not that I can help with the fork problem but nice to know you are in good company - I have the same problem but only a slight leak and still ok to ride.
I do suspect you are correct as mine too isnt ...

hey spike - if you havent sorted out the indicator issue - i had the same on mine - same bike db5r - all i did was wigggle the main connector housing that sits near the odometer for all the electrics ...

i have had the tiniest pin pricks of a chip on the swingarm - a decent nail polish is hardy and prevents rust - of course - depends on where the chip is or how big .........
