Hhmm, is that the "chopped" semi-circular sticker that you can see on the front of your headlight? The one on the left hand side of the bike(left as you sit on it, right if you are stood in front of it looking at the bike?
There are 4 brass adjusters on the back of the headlight, usually flush, have you tried unscrewing them as the top ones change height and the bottoms direction? |

The YB7 ran fine for a while after the carb balance, I've not really done too many miles on it to-date.
When I rode it to put it away at the end of last year, it had developed a running issue. I found a coil problem and replaced them. This didn't cure the running issues.
This week I decided to have another look. I loaded it in a van and got it down to the workshop.
I took the carbs off to give them a strip down and clean. When I looked down the inlets I spotted a problem. I got a torch for a better look and the diagnosis isn't good. It's time to get the engine out I think.

Yep, that's it. When I positioned the bike facing a wall (with main beam on) the beam was horizontal on the left then directly infront of the bike it angled up to the right. Now it's just a level beam.
I do plan on adjusting the headlight screws to improve beam direction. _________________ Bimotas, Yamaha FZR 2TK, Honda NC30, MV Agusta F3 800, Aprilia RS250 |

The easiest way, that I've found, to remove the front fairing is to take the front wheel out. As the fairings one piece it's very tricky and a nervous time pulling it apart to get passed the wheel, if left in.
As it's now at the workshop I've got the use of a forklift.
Fairing off and front wheel back in
Ready for disconnecting things. _________________ Bimotas, Yamaha FZR 2TK, Honda NC30, MV Agusta F3 800, Aprilia RS250 |

First off, remove the exhaust. Disconnected the exup cables.
Then remove the collars and bottom bracket.
Took the exhaust off
Exhaust removed.

I drained the fluids, removed the radiator and disconnected the clutch cable.
That's it so far. I plan on dropping the engine out one night this week. _________________ Bimotas, Yamaha FZR 2TK, Honda NC30, MV Agusta F3 800, Aprilia RS250 |

As you can probably tell I've been taking a few photos. None are more valuable then the ones of the wiring. As you'll know Bimota use a novel approach to the colour scheme. I wonder if the guy was colour blind, the YB4 has similar novelties. (it's actually where yamaha/brembo/etc parts are connected)
Light brown to dark brown, close for Bimota. Red to yellow, ahh that's better.
I removed the front engine supports.
Engines out.
That's it for tonight. Hopefully make a start on the strip down tomorrow night. _________________ Bimotas, Yamaha FZR 2TK, Honda NC30, MV Agusta F3 800, Aprilia RS250 |

It's surprisingly heavy for saying it's only a little 400cc! _________________ Bimotas, Yamaha FZR 2TK, Honda NC30, MV Agusta F3 800, Aprilia RS250 |

I must admit I do like revs. The 400's are great for revs When I get to 10k it screams, and it's still got another 4k to go!
I found this video of another YB7 on a dyno. Maybe I should take my video camera if/when I get it dyno'd. - http://youtu.be/JhMqgBJik8I
also, the FZR400 2TK I've got, fitted with a micron system, would sound good. _________________ Bimotas, Yamaha FZR 2TK, Honda NC30, MV Agusta F3 800, Aprilia RS250 |

Hi EC,
It was running fine after the carb balance, but it began having problems starting and then it progressed.
Looking down No.2 inlet I can see a valve stem seal, and a type of spring washer resting on the top of the valve.
I thought about putting it on 400gb for some 400cc guru's to help out if needed. You busy, _________________ Bimotas, Yamaha FZR 2TK, Honda NC30, MV Agusta F3 800, Aprilia RS250 |

I thought it looked like a valve stem seal. But I couldn't figure it out!
How does one of those get down there?
only if the guide disappeared into thin air- but then the valve would be all wobbly.
Did somebody put it together upside down?
very wierd, I'm fascinated.
and you're staying very cool about it Andy. well done
Actually I just remembered- I found one of those little yellow numbered tags-for plug leads or something- in one of the YB4s inlet ports!! I very much hope there is nothing else in there. _________________ Bimota DB2 tricolore, Bimota YB4e.i, Ducati 851 tricolore, Ducati Hailwood Replica, 1968 Gitan Grillo sport, Yamaha GTS1000, Honda Deauville, Honda GB500 Clubman
