Do most people have the VARTA YTX7L battery fitted.I have found that it does not take much neglect for it to go duff. I have looked at the BOSCH version ( Halfords £49 ).

I also looked at the WHITE POWER units (mega expensive)

Has anybody tried or fitted a different product/manufacture

Before anybody asks, yes I have checked generator output/drive bushes, etc
was going to replace alternator unit just in case, but at £850 for a new one,
original unit output tested ok.
Rectifier and regulator seem ok,but at £170 and £184 respectively was not
going to replace if fitted units checked out ok ,on bench ( understand Suzuki
rectifiers are prone to breaking down under load quite easily)

Dont get a new alternator ... it is exactly the same unit as an rf900 and they can be picked up for 30 quid!

I thought of going "used", but looking at how much work requires to be done to fit something that may have similar problem in time, I would have leant towards new.

The batteries are a bit crap and need to be looked after. Mine aren't, they last a few seasons
