Like a lot of you,I have multiple "siblings" (3)
How on earth do you decide whom gets your hard earned cash
SB desperately wants a new dress - but at 3 grand !!!!
HD loves her "bling" and constantly wants more
GS is a speed freak and wants all the "fast" goodies
I love all three just as much
SB constantly needs looked after, but when she behaves, astounding
HD loves to shine, and when she is out with me, everybody looks
GS love for speed gives me an adrenaline rush
Guarunteed if I spend cash on one the other two play up till their
neeeds are satisfied. If spend the cash on say a holiday for myself, all
three start acting out.
Where am I going wrong, or is this the "joy" of having three siblings as opposed to one. What do I do
Win the lottery
or
Rob a bank
or
Change my name to Bernie Ecclestone !!!!
I am now learning fast the old adage
Cant live with them
Cant live without them
And before anybody asks ,NO - SB is not up for adoption _________________ Marty

I know where my money goes - tires, gas, oil, and other maintenance goodies.
I've never been big on modifying or spending money on my bikes. I get MUCH more enjoyment out of riding them, not washing and polishing them. I pretty much leave a bike the way I buy it - new stays stock and used pretty much stays as the previous owner sold it to me.
My wife and I went through 28 tires in 2008 (?), so my tire costs alone can be as much as a clean used bike on an annual basis. _________________ Look for my books...

I'd relish and long for to have the time and the weather to do so much riding, collectively its around 6,000 miles per year, not bad for Manchester weather. I do agree though, spend time on one and the others start crying and playing sick, thus when bits are bought the others get treated also. Only way around it is to stick with one bike, Nope, not going to happen, or, Buy Hondas, Nope, looks like I'm stuck with what I have, but still smiling and thats what counts |

I've ridden almost 200,000 miles since 1993 with the worst mileage year being 800 and the most being 25k. Since 2004, I've probably averaged about 12k-14k per year. I believe this will be my worst year in a long time...and it figures after having bought the Bimota last July and not riding it much due to maintenance and repair issues. _________________ Look for my books...

Well the DB2 is one of your oldest bikes, and when running on song should be one of the best rides as yours has been modified also from recollection, thus at least you are "bonding" with the bike in having to fix it, and keeping it on the road which is nice, better than behind a glass cabinet for sure
Hows the Mrs doing and her recovery? Still recall when I snapped my achilles tendon, it wasn't the lack of mobility that got me down, it was the constant trying on of my motorcycle boot to see if it fitted that was depressing, must have gone through a lifetimes supply of anti-inflammatory tablets.
Even had to sleep one night with my KTM Axo boot on as the boot went on, but wouldn't come off. Thus took the tablets and went to bed, waiting for the morning for the swelling to go down

She had a follow-up appointment with the surgeons last week and will wind up in a wheelchair for at least 8 weeks in total and is not supposed to use her right leg at all until then. She can move her left arm to work on mobility, but she is not supposed to actually use it. She's only been moving the arm for a week, now, and has about 80% range of motion, but not all of it is by the arm's own power, but by being assistad by the other arm or another person. We believe she should have a full recovery of the shoulder, but she is thinking another surgery may be needed for the knee.
I have all the replacement parts for the R1's front end and will install it this weekend if I get the forks back from my buddy tomorrow. He took them apart, checked to make sure they were straight, and then rebuilt them with new seals and fluid. Once I slap this front end on the bike, I will take the bike to Computrack to see if they can straighten/align the frame. If they cannot, I will probably part the bike out but will probably keep the rebuilt forks. She really loves the 2000-01 R1 bikes and if this one cannot be repaired, we'll buy another, and the rebuilt forks will come in handy.
Even if we rebuild or replace this 2000 with another, we'll probably pick up a newer R1 for her, also. Yesterday I scored a local deal. I got a factory Yamaha service manual, Yamaha tailbag, and an '02-'06 Yamaha factory R1 blue bike cover with all three only costing $50. The guy had bought all of thise stuff for his bike several years ago and never used them because his bike was stolen a few months later. I figure it's $350-$400 worth of stuff for $50....and it may be my excuse fo buy an '02-'06 R1 to go with these goodies. _________________ Look for my books...
