oi oi...how ya's all.
This arvo took the bike for a quick squirt..went to start her up, idling ok, then when i opened her up she just kept dying...all the way home-so would idle but die when throttle on. doesnt seem to be water in the tank. and i dont think its the fuel line so could it be the fuel dead or dying? and if so where would ya get another from?
thanks for help '

undo the fuel line from the pump to the injectors , turn on the ignition and you should get a good flow from the pump , if not the pump may be blocked or Knackerd , if the bike runs on idle its probily not the pump more like a blocked filter .
on a lighter note my DB2 runs on a R1 fuel pump , a very easy set up _________________ so many toys so little time |

Dude, would you like to explain yourself please.... a R1 pump on a Bim
No really, I;m still having a mare with the mechanical pump on the 6r and trying to source an electrical pump to whack on it.
I thought the R1 pump was in the tank. |

Hi
Loads of carbed bikes have low pressure pumps. Eg, the Yamaha ones used on the FZ750. Fairly low pressure though.
Concern would be if the problem is the air pressure at speed blowing fuel back through the fuel pipes. You can overcome this with a higher pressure pump, but then probably over fuel at low speeds. Not sure if you can get a low pressure fuel pressure regulator, fixing fuel pressure at a few psi over the intake pressure.
All the best

Don't understand what you mean with the air presure Keith
The pump only tops up the float bowls and needs to be low pressure so it doesen't overcome the float valves. The carbs take care of the rest |

Hi
Airbox is pressurised, so has the same problem as a carb on a blow through turbo setup. At speed the air going into the carbs is under pressure and doing its best to push the fuel back into the float bowl. Normal way round this is that you vent the float bowls to the airbox so they are pressurised by the same amount. But you then need enough fuel pressure to overcome that air pressure.

GOTTCHA
My float bowls are vented to the air box anyway so that's not causing my problem |

Hi
Still needs enough fuel pressure to overcome the amount of air pressure in the float bowls. Too low fuel pressure and now fuel will get into the float bowl (well, in reality just a fairly screwy mixture). Too high and too much fuel will get in. But with a ram air system what is too low and what is too high will vary with speed.
All the best

Right, I see where your coming from now Keith. The air pressure your on about is the air box pressure from the ram air system (Doh)
Well I don't think I'm ever gonna sort that. That would have been caterd for in Bimota's design department.
I had the SB6R set up on a Dyno. No problems then, it made 136.33 RWBHP and 78.58 ft-lbs of torque.
Now it's stood for a couple of months, the barsteward thing wont run properly again.
I'm guessing it's carbs as there's a good spark.
In the process of pulling it all apart AGAIN to look at the carbs AGAIN |

Hi
I suspect Bimotas design department didn't sort that issue, and that is why SB6 owners regularly have problems with it. Or possibly they did fix it and then someone changed the pump once production started.
My Dieci is a pig to start if it has sat for a while. Once you get it started it will be fine until you leave it again for a long time.

I always check if the fuels orff by tipping a bit on the floor and throwing a match in it.
This crap unleaded only takes a few weeks and a lighted match wont ignite it so what chance has a incy wincy little spark got |
