Thanks for all the advice. Doing the service myself.
A couple of further questions:
There is one hole in the air filter box. If I cut out the other side to match will it need rejetting?
There are a few stone chips on the fairing. Can anyone recommend a good touch up colour match (red) or do I have to have it resprayed? Thanks _________________ SB6, Moto Guzzi Griso 8v, Guzzi 1100 Sport inj |

It's very difficult to help without pictures of your bike
If your fitting a dynojet kit, it recommends in the instructions to drill 9 holes (1/2" i think).
As for paint, try here........

...They do touch up's and all sorts

Oily,
Is it recommended to install a dynojet kit for the sb6? _________________ vince

I've fitted two kit's to SB6's.......
The first kit was fitted to try and improve a set of worn out carbs. It improved performance slightly.
The second kit fas fitted to a set of good carbs IMO wasn't worth the effort.
If you've got your carbs apart anyway it won't do any harm but pulling the bike apart for negligible improvement in performance is never going to be fun _________________ SB6 mk1 (project mega light, big bore)

I don’t mind by pulling the bike apart as long as I don’t have to sit next to my wife on the sofa, watching some stupid TV programs.. _________________ vince

As laong as the engine and exhaust are standard there's no reason to rejet. Even if they're not you can still use the manufacturers parts and reset the carbs.
Dynojet is a useful thing if you know what will work but if you don't you can give yourself more problems than you solve. Really you'd have thought it would be possible to profile new needles with a cnc lathe connected to a dyno - but probably cost prohibitive. _________________ Don't read everything you believe |
