looking for a sensibly priced(is there such a thing) SB8. Will consider any condition but the budget is not limitless. Let me know what you've got Wink

Have you contacted Doug yet?
He posted a message here a few weeks or months ago...

Yes I did but I'm looking for something a bit more used and a bit closer to keep the price down Wink

I mailed him yesterday although I'm affraid it might be a bit costly for me too, considering the low mileages and upgrades...

This is the one in Belgium: http://www.motorzoekertjes.be/detail.php?id=4029.
Keep in mind prices are in euro and mileage is in Km.

Austria (brand spanking new, halfway down the list):

Switserland (price in Swiss Francs):

Another one in the UK:

The Austrian bike has been there for well over a year but their site is pretty accurate so I think will still be there.
Same goes for the Swiss bike.

The Belgian bike was put online last year, no idea if it's still available or not.

Funny thing though, there seem to be a lot more SB8R Specials available than regular SB8R's...

Any idea of the numbers they built of each?
Must admit. I think it's defiantly going to have to be a special for me too.
As soon as I've got this 6R on the road (a week or two) the pressure will be off and perhaps the right bike will find me Wink

BIMOTA built a maximum number of SB8RS bikes total only 150 .

The Special was actually the WSB homoloigation bike and 150 had to be built to meet this.

The standard BIMOTA SB8R was built in numbers up to a stated figure of 350 units total.

These are the generally accepted figures as they were given me by the USA BIMOTA Importer. And I have seen these figures also stated in print in a number or sources.

So a total of 500 BIMOTA SB8R bikes were made; 150 were/are specials, and 350 were/are standards.

Now I have read that BIMOTA actually did not build all these that they had planned, but I have no way of knowing the exact number.

When BIMOTA went out of business right after the turn of the century (early 2000) it is well known that they, BIMOTA had quite afew Suzuki TL engines, SB8 frames and SB8 parts that were left and unused.

This is where the BIMOTA SB8K bikes came from, BIMOTA using up the extra parts and making some bikes from them.

Once these SB8 parts were used up, the SB8R/SB8K series of bikes came to an end.

Weather the SB8K bikes were made from parts originally ment to make the full run of SB8R bikes????? Who knows.

There are many fewer SB8K bikes than SB8Rs however.

I hope this helps sort out the figures a bit.

I welcome any input from anyone else who may know about this.

There have been a number of people who have contacted me wanting information about my BIMOTAs and especially about my SB8RS bikes.

I am reluctant to want to make a sale to anyone who doesnot have the ability to actually come and see the bikes.

I know that I can give discriptions and photos of the bikes, but I want anyone who does business with me to be happy with any transaction.

Of the 3 BIMOTA SB8RS bikes; only one of the three is in totally stock condition. This one is not so much a problem. The other 2 as I has earlier posted, are very heavily modifified/customized with lots of WSB racing components (Magnesium Marshesini, GP Brembo, Moto Corse, Titanium, custom Billit items, Tunnel port systems, custom carbon items).....

Even though I am comfortable to saying that the modified BIMOTA SB8RS bikes are in beautiful condition, the fact that they are not stock makes selling them a bit more touchie for me. Of course I could retun them back toward stock condition, but I would only do this after someone has seen them in the flesh as they are first. Then we could discuss what custom items the buyer wants to go with the bikes and adjust any prices acordingly.

I hope I have explained myself OK.

Its funny but I have had quite a few potential buyers contact me from over seas. And I do apreciate any and all interset. Its just that I feel better doing all business in person and not by long distance.

Hi Doug, I understand your reluctancy to do proceed in such a long distance, non personal transaction.
It's a bit of a shame for us Europeans because flying to Colorado for a bike purchase would have a really bad impact on the total cost of the bike Smile

I hope you find some good buyers over there!

Oh, and if you have any pics, especially of the upgraded bikes, please post 'em here!
Even if I won't be able to purchase one I'd love to see some pics.

Thanks for sharing the knowledge Doug. Do you have any idea where the Santa Monica's fall into these figures?
I'm suspecting that the majority of SB8's in Europe spend most of the time in the back of garages/workshops under a nice warm cover due to the weather.

I have my eye on one other SB8R Special.
If my deal falls through I'll pass it on to you. Wink

It's less than £10K and low mileage...

Just found two more in Holland.

A regular SB8R: http://www.autoscout24.nl/Details.aspx?id=4evuocpnhgs

And a Special (they claim to give a serious discount when no trade-in):
http://www.autoscout24.nl/Details.aspx?id=bbwbitokzbit

Both are under £10K, albeit not much. These are however Dutch prices and those include roadtax and registration so they might go still a bit cheaper when exporting.

And to top it off one loony who wants €21.750 (£17.000+) for a 2000 Special with 1200km...
