Last year my V-Due developed a fault on the carbs, where as soon as you turned her off the bike emptied the entire contents of the fuel tank out through the carbs. I took it to BDK engineering near Norwich, they advertise as two stroke specialists. They were a bit slow, but after two months they told me it was all done, they'd changed the carb float assemblies, jets and sorted the float valves. That came to £500. Their fix lasted two rides, then the same thing happened, although this time accompanied by rough running. I took it back into them late October last year, and have been in email contact since, with various promises re being sorted soon. Then in June they stopped replying to email. I've since phoned, spoken to them, but the guy in charge never gets back to me. Now after 9 months my patience has run out. I phoned this morning and told the muppet who answers the phone that I will be going to collect my bike on Tuesday, and that I have no intention of paying any more to them unless they can prove the bike is sorted (I've also emailed the same message)........watch this space!!!

Theres 2 stroke specialists and then theres Bimota engineered 2 stroke specialists, an even rarer breed no doubt.

Offer it to Bimota Nige, I'm sure he'd sort it for less than 500squid, seems to have had his running for a few years including a 1000 miles in a week going round at TT week, must be doing something right.

Even Vort has put 6o miles on the clock on his v-due this morning, and nothing has fell off yet, Way Hey. Way to go big fella, use them Bims, well done on such a long journey breaking in a zero mile v-due with 12 year old tyres, takes guts Laughing

I've used total traction in Colchester before and they were v good. Oh well we live and learn.

Hi Steve
Thats rediculous - nearly as bad as what they charged you. Regarding BDK they did an awesome job on a cylinder I sent for repair so its defo horses for courses. Get the thing back off then first then a couple of options -fit a vacuum operated tap, fit real tap, solve the problem! Sounds like they fixed the problem but the reoccurance suggests the float valve isn't seating -may be residue in the tank/lines, try a couple of inline filters in the fuel lines as I have those. Let me know when you get it back and I'll come and see if I can help as Im doing some work that way in the country. Dave Paine is still having trouble with his.
I just get on, push the button, warm it to 40+ degrees and away we go, then put it away after my ride Smile which is usually 100+miles, so I feel for you guys who'se vdue isnt like that. Just let me know when you need a hand.

Annoyingly, until last year mine was the same as yours, no probs at all. The vacumn tap was exactly what was suggested and was to be fitted, so I was happy they were on the right track. I let it slide 'coz it was winter, I should have chased them more. The original cost was a little ott, but not as bad as it seems 'cos of the parts involved. I'd discussed with James at BDK and Dell Orto and it was agreed that the float set up was too race orientated and prone to sticking so a more conventional float assembly was put in. I did ask if the needle or rubber tip needed changing but BDK thought not, probably a mistake. Dell orto also reckoned from the photo I sent them that the original float system had been abused. It's a relatively minor fault which just needed time to fix, which I didn't have, but not what now amounts to 11 months. I'll get it back and sort it out. Last time James actually spoke to me he said he had the vacumn tap, just hadn't fitted it, so I'll get that off him and fix the bugger myself. Then I'll sell her on 'cos I just can't devote enough time to her. I'll yell if I get stuck. Cheers Nige.

Just got a phone call from BDK, apologising and saying bike will be fixed and ready for collection tomorrow. Why did I have to spit my dummy to get the work done ? Oh well, at least it may have a happy ending.

Went and picked her up and all is well. The tap is fitted and they did a couple of dyno runs to check the fuelling etc. have to say it was a pleasure to hear my 500cc two cylinder two stroke on full chat, it sounded fantastic and didn't miss a beat up and down the box at all revs, almost makes me sorry to sell her, but I think it's for the best. She's tucked up in the garage on charge, waiting for a thorough clean and then back on with the bodywork.

I will no doubt regret it, but think it is time to let someone else have the pleasure of owning her, I just can't give the V-Due the time it needs/deserves. I'll cheer myself up if she goes by buying something else. Laughing
