When I lock down the gas tank cap and open the throttle the motor is flat as,
open the cap a bit and away she goes, obviously its a breather problem?
The pics of the tank I have seen on here show a second small hole above the main filler hole but this is covered by the cover.

Yeah there's a breather valve that attaches to the tank above the filler cap. It has a clear plastic tube that runs down the side of the engine. It's possible that the tube has a wasp nest built in it that you may be able to get to if you can locate the tube. It runs down the right hand side. Otherwise you'll have to remove the tank/ seat unit to get to it. It's an easy job to remove anyway... you'll have it off soon enough anyway to check out the engineering masterpiece that your bimota is . A little first adventure under the 6s covers for a Saturday afternoon
A few nervous moments putting the seat cowl back on but all good
now just to go for a ride to check its sorted

Tires are only a week old still trying to scrub them in
Had a top road racer (down here) set a base setting on the suspension
seems better than what I had when I got it.
I'm biggish guy 110kg 6ft so he is looking at some heaver springs front and rear for me when we start the improvement optimization process.
but I'm just enjoying riding again after a lot of years off and it will take a few track days and time before I am on the edge of the tires lol

Ah good man. Its a good idea to get the springs for your weight rather then dial out with over damping the front. They are very sensitive and the sweet spot is harder to find then most bikes. There is a ride height adjustment that is really easy to use at the rear end of the shock with a 24 mm socket . Undo the outer blue locking nut then wind in the adjustment nut to extend the shock pushing down the linkage and raising the back end. It does help to put more feel in the front end but with weak springs it can reduce your movement range and bottom out without enough damping. Oh, and it will also mean you have to modify your crap side stand which is covered in the forum... Worth the effort but well worth it! Have fun Hursty _________________ Pomps

That back tyre doesnt look that bad.
Mine is only worn a little more than that (abot 12mm from tyre edge) But I do ride like a girl and still re-learning how to dide quick. lol. _________________ Si...

I didn't find anything obvious when I had it apart so just gave it a clean and put it back together. It's raining today so no riding for me.
Is there a trick to getting the cowling to locate cleanly when putting it back on?
It took me a while to get the front bolts holes lined up. Stressful stuff for a new dad.

one tip is to leave the exhaust and tail attached. unclip the exhaust from the down pipes, undo the 8 side bolts and 2 front ones and lift. much quicker and easier to put back on to. _________________ Pomps

I undo the pipes / subframe from under the seat unit. Then the other bolts and filler cap ... that way the seat stays on the bodywork.
When you put the seat on make sure the pipes are through the hole at the back then stick your fingers in there and wiggle the pipes, things should locate better. Don't do all the bolts up, when you put the front ones in press on the front of the tank and they should line up.
