Ok guys, I'm currently stuck in Afghanistan and won't be back til spring, but when I do get back, the wife said I can look hard for a new baby. So I'm going to put my feelers out. Looking for a SB6 for around 4-5K Euro. Any help would be appreciated. Doesn't have to be for sale in the UK as I live in Germany. So I'd be up for traveling anywhere in Europe to pick her up.

Thanks in advance.

Sure thing, we'll keep a look for you and hide it from Oily! Keep your powder dry and welcome to the forum... Very Happy

here is one on ebay Germany...

http://www.ebay.de/itm/Bimota-SB6-/180978054681?pt=Motorräder&hash=item2a2321f619#ht_500wt_1148

Its another odd on. Mk1 clocks and wheels with a mk2 frame. I would have to see a picture of the frame without those 2 stickers on close up but at the moment it looks in the ball park. Do you read german?

Thanks Pompey, I'll have my wife (still in Germany) do some looking around at it. Yes I read a fair bit of German so that helps. I just can't get over the look of the SB6, it's such a beautiful bike. From what I gather, Oily restores them? Bet he charges a pretty penny for those huh?

At least you have til spring to get serious. Its worth looking from now on as its good to get an idea of how much they are going for. Its much harder then common bikes due to the lack of bikes for sale and the fewer buyers available. Still, your budget should get you a good one and the sb6's come up more often then most other types...

Hey could you or someone else give me a quick run down on the differences between the SB6 and SB6R besides the obvious body work?

Hello yepyep,

here's a few differences: Bodywork, clocks, exhaust, silencers, battery position, airbox, radiator, main jets, longer swinging arm, headlight, I think the steering damper position is changed?, Also possibly the oil cooler,

Cheers, MikeJ.

The immediate visual change is the back end. The 6r has a duck bill look and the pipes are wider apart and not hidden under the seat as the 6. Looks are personal choice but the older 6 is, for me, miss world compared to Nora batty with the 6r.

Thanks for the info guys..... if I get one and it's anywhere near the UK we might have to meet up for a Bimota ride! lol Ok, what about ride characteristics, who prefers the 6 or the 6r and why? Sorry for all the questions, I just always do a LOT of research before I do anything.

Apparently the 6 r is more comfy to ride on... but with the lights off so would nora batty. The thing i like most about the ride on the 6 compared to my other bikes is the long gears, only 5 of them. and the huge spread of useable power. let it scream to the red line and hang on. love it. the size of a 400, looks of a gp and never sell it when you get one!

Just to be sure the 6R isn't an ugly bike it's just the 6 is prettier. The 6R though is a bit more sorted than the 6 so it's really swings and roundabouts.

If it has Anteater wheels - change them

....short on time at the moment so all I'll say.........

6R is a much better, all around package than the 6 Shocked

...BUT....the 6 is the looker with iconic status to boot.
The 6 will ALWAYS sell but the 6R seems to be the unloved brother.

That's all Wink
