Wouldn't dare, as you'd not want to ride either, CORRECT! so would have to be the 5 or the 4. THAT'S BRAVE But not the 2 unless we can get a chiropractor and fork lift at both ends of the trip, one to lift me off and one to straighten me back up Laughing WIMP

Too True, but methinks your'e just trying to entice me into taking the DB2 out of perhaps feelings for yourself???? Laughing

not really - there is a DB2 at Ian's already. The 4 or 5 would be a great addition to the Bim line-up. Be interesting to see your luggage arrangements. Very Happy

g-strings and wet wipes, and perhaps a toothbrush, would have to remove the crab from the seat compartment first though to make space Laughing

Garry, Andrew and Steve; you're all booked in the Eiche- they were a bit surprised that anyone books 10 months ahead, but nothing against it.

I've even been slowly moving towards getting the YB4 sorted (again), changed the fuel level sensor in the DB2 for a one piece type, including 2 bolt flange- so I could unscrew the old DB2 sensor from the its separate flange and stick it in the YB4 tank. Don't worry if you didn't follow that.

And rescued the fuel pump from the 851- that's got a BMW K1200LT pump in it now, which is a smaller diameter, packed out with a so called 'sock' to stuff in the hole.
Now I can put the YB4 pump back where it belongs, so long as I can find the C clip again.
And I know it works, wonderful isn't it.

wiring loom, wiring loom . .

Finally chopped together the 'tea party' video.
It's probably a bit boring unless you were there . .

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=E8ihaKFqSL4&feature=plcp

As the tortoise explained to the policeman after he'd been mugged by a gang of snails: It all happened so quickly.

I'm looking foward to the next one already, it's the 25th anniversary of the Schottenring Grand Prix so there might be something special additionally? and it's the 25th anniversary of the Bimota YB4 (the road version anyway), so I'm going to try and get a few YB4s together to celebrate.
Which will be even more additional motivation to get Brigittes bike finally on the road.

4 booked in already now !

It's that time of year again,
and the planning has already been started, and emails sent out, so here's the official BF info/invite:

dear all

as it was even more fun last year, we have decided to do it again, so . . .

We invite you to the 2013 Crankcase. 'bikers tea party' on Saturday 17th August at: Usinger Strasse 21, D61267 Neu-Anspach Westerfeld, Germany.
Which is again the same weekend as the Schottenring Oldtimers Grand Prix, classic bike 'racing' event on August 17th and 18th; which will be celebrating it's 25th anniversary in 2013.
Up until now they've already got Freddie Spencer, Phil Read, Manuel Herreros, Rodney Gould, Dieter Braun and Carlos Lavado coming.

Here you can see the photo gallery of the 2012 tea party on our website: http://thecrankcase.com/?seite=tea%20party%202012&lang=en

And even a short film: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=E8ihaKFqSL4

And the 2013 Schottenring races website, unfortunately only in German: http://www.schottenring.de/msc/index.php/schottenring-gp

Setting off to Schotten on the hottest Saturday of the year.

Arriving at Schotten to enjoy some excellent riding displays (races) on the loudest Saturday of the year.

Here's a couple of the reasons on the Schottenring street circuit.

Back at the farmyard for bar-be-que, refreshments and chat . . .

As an extra attraction, we are organising a small gathering of Bimota YB4s to celebrate their 25th birthday, with 3 YB4s promissed already.

If you are interested to join us and need accomodation, here you can see what's available around Neu-Anspach: http://www.neu-anspach.de/284.html
and the town of Usingen just 3 km to the north,
hotels: http://www.usingen.de/freizeit.php?aktion=hotels&linkid=5&linkid=5
holiday homes: http://www.usingen.de/freizeit.php?aktion=fewo&linkid=5&linkid=5

Most convenient are the Hotel Zur Eiche (single room 48 euros, double 80 euros, approximate) which is directly opposite: http://www.zur-eiche-westerfeld.de/
and the Hotel Veltes (single 55 euros, double 88 euros, approximate) which is just 200m away.: http://www.landhotel-velte.de/

or camping in Usingen (3km) for 3 euros a night (motorcycles no charge): http://www.camping-usingen.de/
We will help as much as possible with bookings, so if you see something youlike, give us a call/send an email and let us know if we can help.

For food and drink in our yard on Saturday, we will ask for 'non-profitmaking' contributions. Average cost per person was around 15 euros last year.

I have to say this: please understand all risks and costs will be your responsibility.

and I'm sure some of you will be wondering why we do this? because it's a great opportunity to meet like minded people or old friends combined with some great riding and a stunning classic bike event, if you plan to be anywhere in the area (near Frankfurt, Germany) in the middle of August this year.

A few of you are already booked, 7 ! so this is just info.

You are welcome to arrive early and stay later- those coming from the UK usually come on Friday and leave on Monday which gives us time to visit Schotten again on Sunday or take a couple of tours together around the local roads.

all the best and hope to see you then, but please let us know if you will becoming by, even if you don't need accomodation, so that we can arrange to have enough cups : )

Ian and Brigitte Alderton

more pics if you've goten this far

I like this one, because it raises the class a bit more : )

A Ducati Sebring going for it

A few of the total (13 I think ?) Bimotas that visited us in the yard.

The exhibition tent at Schotten, nice to have a good look at some of the bikes in the shade, also most of these made it onto the track too- nothing for show here.

lunch break during our 'short' tour on Sunday

Finally sorted out some pics and stuff.
It was a great weekend- except that it went far too quickly, again.
Thanks to those who joinned- it's a long way for most of you, I hope it's was worth it ; )
We had one late arrival on Monday, Peter who called from Cologne asking when the party was? not to be put off that he had missed the main event by 2 days- got on his Monster S4 and came straight down for a ride out with Yannick, Nicolas, Jürgen and me, followed by the usual dinner on the terrace : ))
Yannick also found the 851s' problem- a hose clip on the front inlet had slipped down causing a leak !
Then carried on to change the belts, check the valve clearances and balance the throttles- he never stops- but it meant that the bike was fit for the Monday blast : ))

Friday evening arrivals, nice black and white YB11.

Saturday morning chat before getting on our way to Schotten

arriving at Schotten, 5 Bimotas and 4 Ducatis made a stunning line up in the parking : )

DB6, DB2, DB3, DB7

and Andrew with his gorgeous 25th anniversary blue silver YB11

Kens DB7 still with its' track day number from Assen which he joinned on the way down to ours.

Peter Stimpers monoarm SB6, was the only other Bimota to be seen all day . . .

Sascia came to the evening tea party at ours with her YB11, parents Klaus and Irmi on a more pillion suitable VFR, but on Sunday Klaus got his DB7 out to join us for a spin over to the Spessart nature park

Where we stopped by the Engländer pub for lunch as last year.

This can only meen one thing

Garry's back : )

loads more pics in the photo gallery of the website
http://thecrankcase.com/index.php?seite=tea%20party%202013%20p1&lang=en

plus Schotten pics
http://thecrankcase.com/index.php?seite=schotten%202013%20p1&lang=en

I've also got around 20 hours of film to sort out- that will take a few days, especially as I'm off to Glemseck this week for the Cafe racer sprints and party . .
And we'll be doing it again next year, maybe something a little different, how about a week long do ??
all the best
Ian

thanks,
The monoarm SB6 belongs to someone living just 40km from here- he was going to try and drop by but he was helping out with the Ducati sidecar team, alot.
He also instructs on Nürburgring track days, otherwise he would be joinning us to go to Glemseck.
We will be meeting up in the not too distant future .
all the best
Ian

If you can read French (well there are some pictures too) Yannick and Nicole have put up their version of the tea party on Yannicks website:

http://motominute.fr/galerie-photo/tea-party-the-crankcase-aout-2013-2/

As far as I can tell, they enjoyed the weekend : )
