| Its defo a standard Ducati Item. 916 did have mechanical clocks with drive cable, same clocks as a Db4 (Although the tacho went to electronic with no drive cable), also same as 750SSie and 900SSie, so 2001 onwards, same also as 748, 996, and 998. Don't go beyond that though as the triple clocks on Ducatis became electronic, Ducati 851/888 different clocks but same connections. Its the Monster though that had twin parrallel clocks that have a larger ferruled end on the speedo size that won't fit. When I'm home tonight I'll have a look if theres a number, but prior to that I'll pop into Duc Mcr to see what they say. You can call them yourselves, phone and ask for Mark in spares dept, as he's the most helpful, he'll even let you know if they have a spare in stock and how much (He's used to being asked questions about Ducati related questions for Bimotas), as they are often cheaper than second hand ebay muck. Example, a standard speedo drive cable is 9.99 new from them, whereas some sharks on ebay charge up to 20 for 2nd hand |

Oily, had a look at my ducks with similar speedo drive. The 996 and 998 have 25mm axles so to big and my 93 900ss is too small and the number stamped on that is 748209.
I seem to recall that some later ss and nonsters had 20mm axles fitted. Any good duck dealer should point you in the right direction. |

| Hi Oily, that one that Cbar has located is the same as for Ducati 900SS 1994 onwards, but not earlier as the bearing internal diameter is 17mm on the early Ducs. If yours is 20mm then fine, Ducati manchester have new ones in stock that are 20mm internal for a 900SS 1994 onwards that are 48.52 which includes the VAT. The number 750705 is on the body but that is merely the mould of the casing that is generic, and its the closed cell bearing that fits inside that varies dependant on your spindle size. Evidently there are other suppliers, and Duc Mcr will post out also. Hope it helps |

Yep, that helps a lot
Think I'll try second hand as it's only a speedo drive and I've got to buy a new camera
I knew you demented doochatee lovers would come in useful one day
Thanks again for your effort _________________ SB6 mk1 (project mega light, big bore)

Oily, when it was all said and done, what model speedo drive did you get that worked. I need one for my Antera wheel also.
Thanks, Neil |

900ss
the one that fits a 20mm spindle
OR
I bored out a 17mm to 20mm too
worked a treat
P.S.....
Got a spare one here but it'll probably be easier and cheaper to source one locally _________________ SB6 mk1 (project mega light, big bore)

...Hardley.....
If it wasn't for the cheap, flimsy nature, we wouldn't have to keep sourcing new ones
At least the Mk1's used the original, well made Suzuki item _________________ SB6 mk1 (project mega light, big bore)

Ha... no oily, there's no dark side in motorcycling (for me), i love all bikes althought i do have my preferences. I'd have many, many different makes and models in my shed if i could afford it.
Actually, i've never owned a Ducati (yet), closest i've ever got is the 904 two valver in my db4. Just trying to uphold the 'zen' of the forum. _________________ '99 DB4 #104, '96 SB6 #1165, '94 DB2 J #652, '99 DB4 #088, '08 VTX1800, '93 ZXR750R M1, '95 ZXR750, '95 ZXR750 Race Bike, '94 CBR400rr NC29 Race Bike, '94 CB250, '49 BSA C10 250, '61 BSA A10 650, '89 ZXR750, '91 Ducati 851 |
