OK I know you are all going to tell me to get a matched set of plugs BUT.
Ordered a set of Brisk plugs for my SB6. (AR10ZS)
But got set 2 x AR10ZS and 2 x AR12 ZS
Basically the difference is the 12 are a hotter plug (NGK equivalent 8 )
IF I was to use them, would you run the hotter plugs on the inbord cylinders (I beleive they fuel a little richer). Or is it a total no no. _________________ Si...

I wouldn't do it.
Obviously you ordered a set but you didn't get what you ordered. Get onto them and sort out a matching set, its not like you're going to use the bike in the next 2 weeks. _________________ Don't read everything you believe |

I wouldn’t do it also, the operating temperature of the spark plug itself is very important.
Has the spark plug in the engine an too low temperature, then its possible the spark internally is contaminated by oily carbon deposits.
Has a spark plug too high a temperature, then its possible there is an self-ignition before the spark plug has sparked (pinging of the engine)
That is what they teach me long ago at school. _________________ vince

The inner cylinders on most water cooled bikes run hotter, so actually they run leaner, as the air is less dense in the hotter cylinders, so needs less fuel for the same ratio.
However, I ran my SB6R with 4 sample points on the downpipes, so effectively ran it as 4 1 cylinder engines on the dyno, to jet and set them independantly, and they run the exact same size main jet and needle height, which would suggest the cylinder temps are very even indeed.
Basically, you need matched plugs for the SB6/6R, as amazingly, all cylinders are very closely matched.

Looks like I'll just have to hunt the supplyer down and TRY and get a replacement pair out of them. _________________ Si...

...As I told you on the other place......
Don't buy from there, don't use Brisk and use 4 plugs of the same value _________________ SB6 mk1 (project mega light, big bore)

...I remember when splitfire plugs came out, my missus used to sell them. Twice the price of ngk so everyone thought thy must be good. Great marketing because they were shit. Had a huge amount of returns because they were duff or bikes wouldn't run on them...... _________________ SB6 mk1 (project mega light, big bore)

Honestly - I don't think they're worth it. Plugs only spark to one place on the electrodes so it won't matter to much what the brand is.
I used irridiums for a while ... but they really didn't suit the engine, they didn't last long and if the bike wouldn't start you could bet the plugs were to blame.
If you want posh plugs use the twin electrode NGK _________________ Don't read everything you believe |
