Hi,
I have owned my Furano for 6 years and slowly been customising the money pit.
There's hardly any info around and a lot of it is false anyway.
Have looked for photos for comparison of technical details to no avail.
I would love to know what the original setting is for the length of the two rear shock linkage assemblies?
Also how much of the Ohlins forks is sitting through the top triple clamp.
b really good to know.
The previous owners were muppets so I have played around with settings and made it corner a lot better but its time consuming.
I havent been able to tame the hard suspension yet, torture touring I call it.

Find a suspension specialist local to you, they'll set up the bike with you sitting on it so the sag will be right. Then they should adjust it to suit your riding. Its good value for the time it saves and serves as a base setting. _________________ Don't read everything you believe |

Have already been to the experts mate, pretty hopeless really as spent lots and they are good for bugger all. Its still super hard and has the bumpy ride of doom.
Anyway Its the geometry I'm talking about not set up of the suspension spring and damping wise.
I want to get the weight bias and rake and trail spot on but have no measurements or info to start from and the suspension guys wouldn't know as its not Japanese and common.
I'm going to put the front forks through the triple clamp a bit more for starters in the absence of info and re set the sag and test ride. _________________ YB8EI |

OK - I just wonderred if you could dial out the harsh ride.
Dropping the forks through will obviously put more weight on the front and steepen the rake shortening the trail .... but you probably knew this.
I guess it all comes down to what you want the bike to be, sport or tour. Then weigh the bike (scales under each wheel) both unloaded and loaded, you'll need some help for that. _________________ Don't read everything you believe |

Suspension experts, Pahhh.
Best they can possibly do is get you somewhere near....worst they can do is wreck your suspension.
Afraid there is no substitute for time and tweaking.
Good tip is keep a record of what you've adjusted and only adjust one thing at a time....
Oh yeah....stay away from the so called experts unless your rich and got loads of time _________________ SB6 mk1 (project mega light, big bore)

Yes these experts charged me 500 each for the rear shock and its still not right internally.
I'm now running one spring softer than stock.
I spent 1000 on the forks but they had been damaged and the cartridges bent and rechromed too thick.
They guy did sort that out but its still way too hard.
It didnt turn into corners before but i moved the forks through a small amount and it helped so thinking its now closer to the original position. _________________ YB8EI |
