|
|
Hi Guys (and girls),
Is it possible to remove DUCATI generator cover (left side engine cover) without moving down the engine.
On a Monster or a SS it's very easy : only removing few bolts and pulling the cover with the special tool.
On the Mantra it's impossible because of the frame.
Last time I did it, I had to disassemble all the bike (tank, carbs, wiring...) to get off the engine and open the cover.
I didn't found another solution. When the bolts are free, it's impossible to pull the cover which is stucked by the frame.
Have you found a solution ? |

No Simple solution I'm afraid...Db4 is same...the front left frame to engine fixing section on the frame is too large to enable the crankcase cover to pull off...as evidently you cant spin the cover as it has to clear the sprocket drive spindle first....no need to remove the engine though....just support the engine off the ground and remove the front frame fixing bolts that goes through the engine mounts...making sure your exhaust flanges are loosened/removed, then simply cantilver the engine out forwards dropping it slightly, all else can stay in place, electrics, rear shoock etc...only a few millimetres of clearance needed to clear the case from the frame boss....Best of luck |

I still have to do that job on my DB2 to change out the starter. I'm not looking forward to it, either. _________________ Look for my books...
