HI, my sb6 forks need some TLC, the tubes are pitted and the bottom adjusting screw O ring is in need of replacement, so due to the lack of the correct tools to carry out the work myself is anybody able & willing to do the job? I suppose its a good time to carry out a zx9 preload mod. cheers AL |

hi vince, sorry in the delay replying, I live in Fareham ,Hampshire ,uk. can you tell me the thickness of the alu plate you made your headlamp bracket from , I'm guessing 4mm. anyway back to the forks, I want to rechome the tubes and have only stripped them halfway to the point that a paioli tool is needed, so options are buy or hire the tool, trust a company to carry out the work or even buy replacement forks (sb6), anyone suggestions welcome. cheers AL |

I'd send them as units to a suspension company and let them sort it out. _________________ Don't read everything you believe |

There are these fork stanchions on ebay at the moment.
I would do a bit of checking to make sure that they are the right part first.
all the best

Hi Al, You can make the special tool your self for the forks. If
you want I can make a picture of mine home made tooling? (With measurements)
For the headlights, 3mm plate will do or 2mm if you use T6 or a kind of alu alloy plate. _________________ vince

Hi Vince. A pic or diagram with dimensions of your fork tool would be great thanks. _________________ '99 DB4 #104, '96 SB6 #1165, '94 DB2 J #652, '99 DB4 #088, '08 VTX1800, '93 ZXR750R M1, '95 ZXR750, '95 ZXR750 Race Bike, '94 CBR400rr NC29 Race Bike, '94 CB250, '49 BSA C10 250, '61 BSA A10 650, '89 ZXR750, '91 Ducati 851 |

HI, thanks for the replies , I now have the forks stripped, the tubes need to be sent for rechroming so I'm phoning around at the moment, had a price to finish them in TI NI but at £200 on top of the chroming price its not worth the extra cost. cheers AL |

Let us know how you get on it could be good information for anybody else.
I'd like a look at the special tool too. I wonder, if it's just a case of holding a bolt at the bottom of the forks or something more _________________ Don't read everything you believe |

The special tool is used for removal of the cartridge.
