Called down last Friday to see this. I have to say it is the most amazing piece of kit. Has gone to the very top of my motorcycle wishlist. Very impressive bit of engineering and excellent restoration.

Good to meet Waggy and have a look at his collection of bikes.

I am starting to save for the bribe Very Happy

Waggy, when you dismantled the hub assembly, did you take note of spacers, pin and screw dimensions ? And what material is the hub made of, ally or steel?

Hi tesikwak,

Sorry didn't take notes of dimensions you mention, I assume the hub is made of alloy.

Hi Waggy,

When I see the current Tesi 3-D they appear to have the front shock mounted in a different location then yours, similar to an old fashion swing arm execution. Surprised
Yours is a much prettier construction, any idea why they are so different?

Also: I got the Max Meyer paint (at last!) had to order it in England (Qpaints – Derby UK) and received it yesterday.
The "Gold" colour was a special one (could not get any sample), will test the paint next week or so just to see how it behaves.
Couldn't get it for a sensible price here (paid £ 70, had to pay more then £ 110 per liter here).
Imagine: paint made in Italy (Milan), send to UK and back to Belgium (carbon footprint) …

Frank

Hi Frank, good news on the paint, crazy world though when it comes to buying some stuff. Agree the new version of the tesi is not so nice as the underslung shock, as to why i can think of only two reasons, first, probably cost derived, its a simpler and therefore cheaper solution. 2nd, my tesi is the one the press hacks nearly crashed after they had done a wheelie and the front mudguard came off and jammed the front wheel. Maybe the new suspension design will mitigate against this, but who knows.

I note you also have the brembo front calipers on yours that are specially cast with the Bimota Logo.....which is nice..seen it on a rear caliper before...and have one as such on my 6R but never seen them before on the front calipers.........must have cost a fortune as a one off to look preety for the Journos........but then I suppose thats all part and parcel of Bimotas really....one off pieces.. Cool

I thought that the calipers were made by Grimeca. Is this correct?

I'll have to pass on that question........as I dont have a Tesi... Crying or Very sad Popping the brake pads out will show who makes them as the caliper maker would put their own pads in from new......just know that my own bike with a "bimota Logo'd" rear caliper...is a brembo unit...a quick look at Grimecas italian website doesnt show anything similar.....
