Was so busy checking out the clutch plates...I didnt notice that your crankcase cover has been changed by a pevious owner to a Cut-away open cover.......Nice addition to get the clutch dust out of the way and a common change done to Ducati engines...make sure you bag it over though if washing your bike...but shouldnt be too untoward is you dont

I won’t disappoint the Zard plates. Smile

The clutch cover is original Bimota … that I think … because of the Bimota logo that’s on the cover. I've seen pictures of different DB5R with the same cover.
What if the bike stands in the rain, can this may cause problems for the clutch?
Is there special maintenance required for this kind of clutch?

The red or black Clutch anodised pressure plates are stamped Bimota...but made by STM in Italy.........No real maintenance requirements or protection from rain necessary......they should work fine wet or dry.........seeing as your clutch engine casing is also cut-away/vented.....it should help keep it cool and the spinning motion in operation will help it to vent away clutch friction plate dust also......maybe occassionally you can blow through it with an air line to help clear dust, bugs, flies, small birds and children that get caught in it...but thats about it...... Laughing Sure will be a little noisier than normal seeing as its so so well vented....If you can hear it over the noise of the exhaust cans that is Laughing

My DB5R has a wet slipper clutch. What is up with that?

2bims, Zard plates are arrived. Thanks for everything. Very Happy

Only a small request, it is possible that you take a picture of your exhaust silencers with the sizes of where the plates should be?

Glad they turned up fine Vince..........and heres the piccies and measurements....although really it doesnt matter where they go...as you'll see on mine...the left and right differ greatly in location...same as on my Arrow end can plates that are rivetted on on my DB6...I think the human that sticks them on does do when the pipes are in the vertical position...not realising that when they are on the bike both end cans are then turned in different directions opposite to each other...meaning that one side is way different to the other...as pictures attached...so really just check for fit as the plates are curved...I think they look slightly better to to the top of the can rather than Dead center....mine measure 5mm and 10mm away from the rivetted band of the end can outlet....so again ...different on each side.....Tape them on each side first and stand back and see how you feel....

Hope you got the other stickers in the envelope also......this is what I put on my petrol Filler cap....as its the most boring Bimota Petrol cap I've ever seen on the DB5....and the Only time I've ever seen a Bimota filler cap without any reference to "bimota" on it whatsoever....

Then I'm lucky, I can put the Zard plates where I like them the most.
Yes the stickers also arrived. Maybe I copy your idea about the fuel cap… if you don’t mind.. Wink

I like the turn signals on your DB5R … are these original Bimota?

No I dont mind Vince....the turn sognals arent original...they are a lot shorter than the standard ones....have neons in them...and are on flexible rubber stems as opposed to hard plastic......The previous owner changed tham as he said he had 3 sets of the originals snap/crack due to vibrations and lack of flexibility.....so he replaced them but kept a set of the originals for "originality" of the bike...........

This is where I placed the plates.
A little more upward and slightly forward.

I become more used to the DB. Only I have too little time to ride lately. Sad
Mentally I’m still not used the way the DB starts. Laughing

yes....it takes time to accept that it whirrs slowly....but does start...and if you touch the throttle it will stop the fuel flow to stop you flooding the bike....but it does start........2 years for me now with my DB5R...and I've learnt to accpet it and trust it.........

Upgrading the cables from the battery to the starter makes a big difference in starting these bikes.
