breather pipes

can anyone tell my why the engines ive seen have got a breather on the clutch cover and another on the flywheel cover ,please ?
ive got them with my engine but they are just taped to the inside as all covers are new
where do the pipes go to that go on the nipples ?
do i need to fit them ? i just cant understand why they need to be there
unless its to do with the contents of both spinning very fast ?
has anyone done a rebuild thread on here ? a full strip and build ?

They are crank case breathers
you need them and they go to a
catch bottle or to the out side world

Early motors had two , latter motors had three

do they need the catch bottle ?
there is something very wrong if
anything comes out of them ?
dry clutch and flywheel , where is the other one

Some are wet ones
Clutch side inner cover

Catch bottles for race bikes etc

so do i need to put one on flywheel and clutch covers
and just pipe to the back of the rearset or something ?
