OK, I have finally got the bike back together and went out for a ride. A few miles from home while entering a freeway entrance the throttle stuck open again! Fortunately I had my mini tool kit along, and inspection showed that the fast idle mechanism was sticking. This bike has the lever on the left handle bar that opens the throttle some for cold starts. I disconnected the cable and rode around a little with no reoccurrence. I have now removed all of the slack in he mechanism so that the spring holds it in the inoperable position. I will go for s longer ride today and see if I survive! _________________ Spike C.

That doesn't sound cool at all. I'd be looking into that very carefully if it were me, or removing the thing all together! _________________ '99 DB4 #104, '96 SB6 #1165, '94 DB2 J #652, '99 DB4 #088, '08 VTX1800, '93 ZXR750R M1, '95 ZXR750, '95 ZXR750 Race Bike, '94 CBR400rr NC29 Race Bike, '94 CB250, '49 BSA C10 250, '61 BSA A10 650, '89 ZXR750, '91 Ducati 851 |
