... if Bimota produced a new set of HB1 frame - tank-seat kits and numbered them from the end of the old number series (if there was one) - a bit like the 'heritage' bikes from Ducati etc. They might be popular in old-time racing and it might be worth taking the risk of racing them. The old tech. shouldn't be too difficult to reproduce these days if the drawings are available.
Still, I suppose the owners of the original bikes might be a bit miffed!

I think it would be nice too mike..........and as long as plated up to be "new"......shouldnt miff the original owners bikes heritage........There was a company in Germany making exact replicas...as I've been up close and personal to such a bike...looked spot on...an exact replica...freely admitted to by the owner...even with the enlarged oil pan on the front of the engine...nice bit of kit as long as said owners of such dont try to deceive whenever selling on........ |

they have done the exact same thing in historic car racing labelled as 'recreations' so they distinguish from original but it helps preserve and maintain for the future IMO..... |

YB5 would be the one to reproduce in a kit form. Make sure it works with the present XJR engine and injection system, new fairing and tank _________________ Don't read everything you believe |

I suppose it could seem like a backward step for Bimota to go back totheir initial origins of "simply" making bodywork and frame kits...
At least with "recreations" such as the Jaguar E-type...its being made by Jaguar, and with a price tag of over 1million GBP....its probably profitable for them to do so........... |

It could be a useful earner for them though, because they would only need to source a set of the major parts and not get slowed down by things like indicators and mirror suppliers _________________ Don't read everything you believe |

Except they don't look old enough , they look like a 90's bike .not classic enough ! Something like a kb1 or hb1 much more desirable imo . |

The FJ1100 is from 1984.
Really you want something later than looks older. Paint the engine silver rather than black and it will look the part (mostly).

I don't think they should faithfully reproduce the frame and certainly not the bodywork _________________ Don't read everything you believe |

This looks like absolute sex on a stick (or two pieces of rubber), which model is this? assume it's got the fairings removed? |
