I am fantasizing putting a V-due engine in a track bike.

Has this been done before?

I can only find mention of an Aprilia RS 250 with a V-due engine, but no real detail about this project is available.
Anyone know of a good bike with a frame suitable for such a project?

Cheers

Only ever heard of an engine been put in a RS and an RD500.

But the question has to be asked WHY ????
Why not just get a track vdue ??? the vdue engine is not exactly easy to come by or cheap. They are about 5k if you can find one.

Got to admit, I had the tape measure out to see if my spare engine would fit in an NSR250 frame.....
Tyga bodywork and a Rothmans paint job........... where's the tissues!!!!

Also, the gear ratios are a mega problem.
I've been on a few track days at Donnington Park on mine, the jump from 1st to 2nd spoils the entire experience. You do not notice it on the road, but on the track it is useless.......
\I was going to buy a Trofeo, but bought an RSV4 instead.

Yeah. I was starting to ponder this option since a Trofeo is £ 20k plus (out of my budget Rolling Eyes), and I would hate to be the guy wrecking one beyond repair on the track.

I suppose a project like that would fall between two stools; rarity and performance, and not be worth the expence ...

Btw I think Piero has an injection engine for sale at the moment.

Gearing would be an issue no matter what frame it was in though.

Steff , you have PM

@EYREY1 it would be interesting to see your build thread - can you pm link?

I still think feasibility is questionable if I were to source all the parts from scratch, but I would like to see your project Smile

Have a great weekend!
