Been dwelling on that one meself.....to either clean or camcoat in black.....but really I'd like to keep the weld marks, blueing etc etc....but they sure can get rusty if left wet.........

Thus so far I've mererly scrubbed clean with good old Brillo pads to temove surface rust etc....and the end can with a straight link pipe....that pipe seems to be made of real low grade steel compared to the end can with a bend in it......This can be wheel brushed clean/wet and dry paper etc back to new...

I have found some high temp lacquer that will withstand exhaust heat...and this is my winter intention/stripdown

800 degrees celsius...should be good enough

Think they all are...seen a few...never touched the bent one...still shiney shiney...but the others like it was just pulled off the railing from the Titanic......it does clean up though.....wet and dry, enery cloth polishing wheels, buffing wheels etc...although next time I do it I WILL be lacquering it...and the rest of the pipes....just far too partial to corrossion......

Results......
Looks like best solution is scotchbrite pads (I used a machine) to clean up the pipes..... It takes a while!!!
Then I clear lacquered them with 500c paint. They come up with a more silver finish than original, but still retain the nice look of the joins and welding etc.....

And nice to see we all have that pair of spare electrical connectors just hanging around at the swingarm linkage.

Weather all being well..should be out on mine this weekend.....
