I have recently purchased a Db2 ( half fairing ) with grey frame and wheels.
Does anyone know if this paint is standard Bimota ? and if so any ideas on paint code?

Tee Hee....welcome to the world of Bimota Ownership....and just the first of perhaps many probing but answerable questions......Most of us struggle with paint codes for the bodywork...let alone the frame or wheels......Db2's came with either "red" frames and white wheels...or grey frame and grey wheels....or red frame and silver wheels...or any of those combinations mixed around......So yeh...grey can be standard...pain code?...even Bimota when they were applying it probably couldnt answer the question....Is the frame painted or powder coated? Bimota were one of the first to use powder coating on frames when CrMo tubing was used...certainly the red framed models are powder coated "red"........If youre looking to repsray or touch up means taking a picture and wandering down to halfords for a touch up match from shelves....or ...and evidently dearer...getting a paint shop to make you up a batch to match..........What wheels are on it? Oscom or Antera?

It's got oscom wheels on it , need told that Gray frame and wheels on a red and white half faring is very rare ?
The paint on the wheels is a bit chipped on places and looks very thick.
It's got a strange finish to it too.
Sorta looks abit like that hammered finish paint but is smooth if that makes any sense ??

Nobody really knows Jim re rarety as regards colour...there were only 123 half faired Db2's anyhow...so rare enough to start with....frame colours on Db2's is known to be mix and match...all depends either whatever people wanted you could specify...or whatever they had left over when finishing the last of each model.......

Oscom wheels....far better than the Anteras...a lot lighter...and it means you get the cast iron large offset full floater brembo discs also.....

Paint finish as you describe yeh...sounds about right...hammerite look is due to metallic grey ...and you should find the thickness is due to them being powder coated....

What we really all need is PICTURES!!!!!!!

Only thing I'd check with the DB2's and Oscom wheels is the rear cush drive assembly...works off 5 "pins" bolted into the wheel hub with heads of the bolts located in the cush drive rubbers...they are known to "sheer off" one by one....early sizes of them werent up to the torque of the motor, thus were upsized in some models....mine had one sheared off and bolt head was still captive in cush drive....another on here had one sheared off and one head welded back on......needless to say its best to check and replace if necessary....it would only lead to either no drive suddenly...or a rear wheel lock up.........neither what you'd want when on the move

Oh...whats the frame number? just the last 3 digits that is...
