Gosh I I had a day??
Got the bike together hooked up the fueul tank
quick test run all working ok oh joy, then after shutting down
fuel started pouring out of air box from #1 & 2 cylinder possiblt more
I had just binned the fuel pump and now working on gravity alone but cant work out why this would do this, possibly float valves sticking but all at the same time??
I am hpoeing that there is a widget valve that needs fitting or adjusting that I don't know about and everyone else does.
I will happy for any quick fix ideas
I now have to get the plugs out to check cylinders arnt hydralicly locked with fuel
Its getting to be a hard bike to stay in love with
Its still very pretty
On the rum now

Your electric fuel tap may have stuck open and gravity may have overwhelmed the float valves. Do you hear a click from the fuel cock when you turn the ignition on?

A cheaters way to clear a bit of rubbish from the float valves is to blow air down the fuel line. It often saves the trouble of pulling the carbs off.

Start off slowly to blow all the fuel out of the lines and bowl. Then give it a quick shot to blow the dirt out of the valve. It's usually a small speck which will work it's way out.

Guys cheers for sugestions
Worringly I dont have an electronic fuel tap fitted to my bike. should I ?
I think I have sussed my particuler problem,I think after I removed the fuel pump I replaced the inline fuel filter in backwards. Doh
therebye flushing all or the previously filtered dregs into my carbs.
So my fault not the bikes
Guess I need to find an electronic fuel tap now.
Again cheers for your help and suggestions during this difficult time.
Im learning something new every time

I don't think you need an electronic tap (?) I have the SB6 which uses a vacuum tap taking a line off a carb stub. The only hassle I find is not having a Prime on it so I have to turn the engine to get fuel into the carbs if the bike hasn't been used for a while. I use a large pipette on the vacuum to get around this.

Yes, the bike would have had an electric fuel tap originally and that would account for the second of your apparently redundant electric connectors! Are you running a vacuum one like Chuckie's or a manual one. If the latter, you can't get at it, so it's permanently on and gravity might well overwhelm the float valves.! The electronic ones used to be readily available, as they were used on I think it was Piaggio scoots.

cheers guys
I have gone with a vacuum on off a CB1300
I will just have to find somewhere to mount it when it gets here as
its a bit snug for room anywhere.
