yeh...timing of reconstruction of a bike is crucial...when I did the 900ss pup...I tried to take lots of photos when stripping...but what with greasey hands and impetus sometimes you forget...then lawdy me....six months later something just doesnt seem to go together...had the same with back wheel...tighten spindle and wheel wouldnt turn...one of the spacers was the wrong way around and was binding on bearing face when tightening....oh and upon completion I had 3 shims left over of all the box of bits I had replaced...oh yeh...they go on the inside face between swingarm and engine....Doh......trying to get them back in without stripping the whole bike back down was a tortuous task laced with many many expletives...all watched on by uncle kindly holding bike upright whilst I held swingarm and tried to get spindle back in place lying under the bike....Grrrghh.....

Share your thoughts re Wavey discs...especially on a period bike....just Oh so 21st century for me....I like my metal good and thick and round and basic....

You've been very busy Brian. Nice work and plenty of bling on there. Same thought about the wavey discs.

Is the frame number upside down compared to normal or is it a Kawasaki thing?

Would it be easier to fit the rear axle from the left hand side? Usually this allows you to fit the chain and wheel and leave it hanging while you fit the brake caliper.

Yes, that bloody wavey disc Confused I knew that I wouldn't be happy with it but I still bought it. It's just too modern for the ZXR. I'll have to find a better looking period disc, but this will have to do for now.

That's a real good idea about putting the axel in from the left side Bud. I never thought of it as the axel on all my ZXR's have gone in from the right. I need to get some more tips of you racers Laughing

Not sure about the numbers, must be just a Kwaka thing Question

My YB8 had the axle coming in from the right and it was a two person job to get the wheel back in. I swapped the eccentrics over as the axle screws into the eccentrics, put the axle in from the left and oh so much easier.

The ZXR is starting to look track ready........

It's getting close Bud, only minor stuff left like brakes, tyres, lockwire, coolant res, some sort of catch tank.

My biggest challenge is getting it to run right with these carbs. The jetting was a complete guess and I think it's still way off as it has already fouled a brand new set of plugs just from running on the work bench.
