Hi all,

I (or my club rather) got a free YB9 to restore and give away to help raise funds for us.

It's fairly complete, but will need to source a few bits as you can see in the images....(fairings removed)

Any good starting points, thinks to look out for? And where the .... do we get a service/maintenance manual for it?

....we are in South Africa, so, might cost us an extra arm and leg to get stuff done Sad

Appreciate any feedback/help!!!

Andries

Welcome to the forum and well done on posting pics on your first post Wink

Bimota Classic Parts should be able to help with parts. Parts are not cheap for these exotic beauties though.

First things first....Does it Run? and is it fuelling correctly? It looks like its a YB9Sri....which means its the fuel injected version made by Bimota....and notoriously they dont run correctly........early versions of the YB9 were carb fed and easier to fix........Are the side fairings missing or just removed? Early bikes had a one piece fairing....later it had break lines in it for easier removal rather than having to prise open the clamshell and pull off over the front wheel........If side panels are missing check that its not a "modified" fairing whereby it was "cut" after leaving the factory and then modded to 3 pieces....if so you may have to look for a complete fairing including nose cone

I'd get it running first before shelling out money on it with fairings, carbon scoops etc etc.......In europe a complete running YB9 can be bought for 2,500 to 4,500 euros, they are, without doubt...the "cheapest" Bimota that one can buy....evidently youre in SA so a bit different......but you may find that you could spend more to get it right than its worth to be sold/auctioned off........
