As my vdue came with half a tank of oil and has only just become road legal I have not needed to buy any 2 stroke oil yet. Anybody got any recommendations ? or should I just go for something like Silkolene comp 2 plus ? mobil 1 2t ? Putoline RS959 etc ?
Just want to get some for when I need it, oh and were to buy, at the moment looking about £58 delivered for 4L.

Bringing this thread back from the dead - since I have the same question Smile

I am leaning towards Castrol R2 or Motul 710 based on a thread Google dug up on the rgv250.co.uk board...

What do you guys run?

I run Putoline RS959.
Struggled to get any solid answers on preferred oil , and all Piero advised was fully synthetic .
RS959 seems to be OK.

I'm using Motul 710, seems to run cleaner than Castrol.

Motul 710 because its every where and time

But as a funny story A mate I race with came up to me just before the last race of the weekend looking for oil and said no one here has any spare and I said what do you need and he held up a gearbox oil bottle ?
I said why do you need this and he said for the fuel mix Shocked I looked at him and said its for the gearbox not fuel mix umm he said but I have used the whole bottle racing over the weekend.
So there you go two GP bikes racing at full speed 500km ruffly each no problems all meeting.
Pulled them apart to check them and all OK , oils ain't oils or are they ?

Thanks guys Wink I just ordered some Motul 710.

In my search I also came across Motul 800 made specially for road racing but it had "premix only" written on it, and apparantly didn't work well with a pump because of it's viscosity, so I wasn't sure if that would be any good with the vdue ...

Otherwise I'll just go with some gear oil next time around Very Happy

Motul 800 is the best but as you say, too high a viscosity for the VDue pump...

I use to work in the oil test industry and can recommend Rock Oil and Fuchs Silkolene products.

Remember there are a lot of fake oils available from the internet. The more expensive the oil the better the chance of finding a fake. Buy your oil from an approved supplier.

Motul 710 for sure. Have been using it in all my two strokes here in the USA. We have JC Motors who sells it for $11 a quart. I have been using it in all my 2ts with power valves. For my cr500af supermoto nothing beats Klotz Benol for wear protection or smell.
