Hello Folks,
while browsing on the internet I came across a picture of what I thought was a DB1, but looking closely at the wheels it turned out to be a Honda VTZ250 V-twin with a copy of the DB1 bodywork on it. It's really cute but as I don't speak Japanese, I can't say much more about it. Maybe 2Bims could buy one to go with his mini DB1?

Whats interesting is that I build replica cars for a hobby. I never thought about building a db1 replica until now. A cbr350 or 500 might be perfect.
I found these on the net: He built this:
I want to build this: Airtech sells the bodywork

Hello Madmods,
the DB1 SR picture is interesting-he's fitted standard wheels which is probably a good choice for road use. The VT series Honda's are really fun to ride- didn't Honda import them into the U.S as an interceptor? and I believe there's a big bore 400 kit for them somewhere, also what about a VF400-500 as a basis?

And here's what looks like an HB2 bodykit for a VTR250

The VT250Fd was an official import into UK. There was a Japan model VT250 that had a latice frame - looked a bit like a monster.
They revved high and would just about top a ton flat out.
Mine caught fire and burn right out _________________ Don't read everything you believe |

Hello Evil,
yes, they were good bikes. I had a new VT250FD in 1984 which cost almost as much as my CB900F (what a great bike that was) a few years before. The VT lasted until about ten years ago and I missed it so much I bought another, and a VTZ to replace it. They really have a nice character, especially around tight twisty roads,
Cheers, MikeJ
P.S. Pity about yours combusting-they're not normally known for it! |

The 300-500 cbr platform would be superior to the vf400-500 platform, plus triple the hp. The vf500 was my first bike and love. The question would be use a modern front end with radial brake, upside downers or use era replicas. Ducati front end would work, but personally a set of ohlins and brembos thank you very much.
Airtech has a great set of bodywork! Look at the detail to the seat cutouts on the bottom of the gas tank.
Two different rear ends, one with taillight recess and one without.
They also have two front fenders. The SR version used a smaller fender.
Heres a link to airtech:

Here's another Japanese kit. The seat section doesn't work for me.

Hello Madmods,
the CB series has more power but the Vf has that V noise which might suit the bike? The headlamp is the same as the one fitted to some FJ series Yamahas in the eigthies (FJ1100?) and the tail lamp is a CEV 249 as used on some early Hinckley Triumphs among others. That Bimonkey replica looks a bit meagre around the hindquarters but it's pretty ambitious for a monkey bike!
