I thought so too....but have to say....nostalgia of the replaced./modded red one back to yellow isnt sitting too well with me...taking me a while to get used to it...seem to be missing the red one that at least matched the frame |

Some things are just mean't to be !!
SB6 = raspberry ripple
DB4 = Tricolor
DB7 = Raspberry ripple
Ohlins = Yellow
ETC , ETC
Its just the way it is , you can't mess with it.
In time you will learn to love the new yellow . |

You could always paint the frame 'Ohlins' yellow _________________ '99 DB4 #104, '96 SB6 #1165, '94 DB2 J #652, '99 DB4 #088, '08 VTX1800, '93 ZXR750R M1, '95 ZXR750, '95 ZXR750 Race Bike, '94 CBR400rr NC29 Race Bike, '94 CB250, '49 BSA C10 250, '61 BSA A10 650, '89 ZXR750, '91 Ducati 851 |

Ok, so I've re-read the thread and don't have much more to add from what everyone else had had to say.
Although, my OCD is telling me to mention about the rain all over the parts and tools on page 3.
And, I don't recall you answering vort's question about what Ducati MCR found inside the engine.
Righto... back to work now _________________ '99 DB4 #104, '96 SB6 #1165, '94 DB2 J #652, '99 DB4 #088, '08 VTX1800, '93 ZXR750R M1, '95 ZXR750, '95 ZXR750 Race Bike, '94 CBR400rr NC29 Race Bike, '94 CB250, '49 BSA C10 250, '61 BSA A10 650, '89 ZXR750, '91 Ducati 851 |

Now that would go with the original paint scheme !!!!
My vote is return it to the metallic purple and yellow !!

I've been busy tarting up the underside of the bellypan....after its many years of getting stone chips thrown from the front wheel...and being dragged over the ground come removal of the full one piece fairing....so have been sanding back the years of the paint on the underside......white first...then primer...then purple...then yellow...then red from the original red white scheme...then white...then primer...then fibreglass...will post up the dayglo colouring soon as I've just about finished the underside......
Some of the "damage".....and years of use can be seen on these shots.....

And this is how it looked after many hours of filling, blocking, wet and dry rubbing to get nice and flat ready for primer.......Have to say....after revealing its 2 previous colour schemes during the preparation process..I was ALMOST tempted to simply lacquer the whole section to show its history proudly.....

And....just to prove that I didnt merely lacquer its "history"....although upon reflection it would have been nice to have done so....
Oh...dont "knock" the wavy line between the 2 halves.....clearly Bimota make the fairing as a whole one piece structural object...and then drag a drunk in off the street to attempt to hacksaw a straight break line down the bottom....then they glass in a tab behind to one side....they do however match up perfectly wavey line to wavey line...ah the beauty of hand made pieces eh?? |

Yep I'd still prefer a nice rare hand made part even if it's not robot perfect. Makes it even more unique and rare. Thumbs up for me.
The painting on the belly pan, engine and other parts that you're doing is looking pretty good mate _________________ '99 DB4 #104, '96 SB6 #1165, '94 DB2 J #652, '99 DB4 #088, '08 VTX1800, '93 ZXR750R M1, '95 ZXR750, '95 ZXR750 Race Bike, '94 CBR400rr NC29 Race Bike, '94 CB250, '49 BSA C10 250, '61 BSA A10 650, '89 ZXR750, '91 Ducati 851 |
