Hope he has better luck selling than me, market is very quiet, not a sniff or inquiry. Know a few blokes in same boat, some say its down to the rise of people buying on pcp and the eu referendum. Looks like l have a long wait. |

Yeah, its definitely a buyer's market when it comes to later generations of Bimota. Funny, when I began my search for a Bimota, there was hardly anything on the market.
Problem is compounded with a fact that in US Bimota is a pretty obscure brand. The market here belongs to Ducatti. The 916 is becoming a collectible bike, with prices now in the mid $7s for very clean bikes. 998 & 999 are still a relative bargain. So, when someone who has $7k+ to spend on an Italian Superbike his first choice would be a Duc, while Bimota will come in somewhere behind the MV Agusta and the Aprillia. Europe I believe is different in terms of brand recognition but by how much?
BTW, I recently came across an article analyzing Ferrari market which indicated a 25% drop in the 60's and early '70's Ferrari, including the venerable Daytona with major focus shifting to much later limited production models from the early 2000's. _________________ 1991 Bimota YB10

New bikes are incredibly good and the SB8 suffers from being relatively expensive for its age compared to other brands (ad always). The 7k goes a long way towards a new bike _________________ Don't read everything you believe |

$7k will not get you anything remote to good in new liter bikes. On a second hand market, of course, things are different. $7k opens a wide playing field of very good bikes. However, that does not preclude other bikes that you would not suspenct to sell in that price range. For example, sale of new two strokes in the States have been verboten for about 20 years now. California went further in that it will issue a new registration to a two stroke bike nor will it renew existing registration if the imbeciles at the Department of Motor Vehicles find out the bike being registered is a two stroke. Because of this, two stroke bikes with legal California registration command a hefty premium. An average condition RG500 Gamma will start at $7k and only go up.
The American market is infatuated with Japanese older sport bikes like the first generation of CBR900RR or Gixxers. and are willing to pay some serious scratch for premium condition bikes.

I think that hits the mail on the head ie the 'later' generations. trellis frame stuff market seems better and the early stuff very $$$. Sure you would get a lot of offers for your immaculate HB2 if it were for sale. _________________ Not as many bikes as I would like and already too many to keep up with! |
