Has anyone replaced the rear brake seals on a YB10. Mine are shot and when I went to my local bike shop he contacted his " brembo guy " and I was told that they are unavailable and I would have to buy a new caliper. So if some one has can you let me know where you got the replacement seals from please. Thanks.

Sounds unlikely but i haven't had to replace mine.
They may have put it in the too hard basket like any Bimota request for parts.
You can get a new one on ebay for cheap ($170NZD)

They are called a P32B caliper. 20.5185.20 Brembo number.
You cn buy kits for the G and F calipers so see if you can use the seals.
Very rare to need seals for the calipers.
Normally a clean and they are mint.

Don't think Brembo advertise seal kits , but seem to remember that KTM can get hold of one for there bikes.

Replacing old caliper seals make the brakes feel much better.

The seal acts as the spring that moves when the pads go in, and the springiness in the seal pulls them back out. When the rubber has gone hard, the springiness is gone and brake action suffers.

So, you don't have to replace old seals, but it's nice when you do.

Hi

From what I have been told, Brembo used to sell spares but got taken to the cleaners by someone buying seals, making a mess of rebuilding the brakes and suing for the results..... Brembos solution was to stop selling seals for their newer calipers (around 1990 or so).

Hence partly it depends on when the caliper was first used. If old enough then spares are available.

Bimotabob says it is a P32B caliper, in which case Moto Mecca list them as being £74.08 +vat. Can't find the seal kits / rebuild kits for it there though.

However searching round for a rebuild kit for a V65TT then this might be the kit (it is listed for the YB4):-

All the best

They say that kit wont do P32 series so need to check what the seal and dust cover measure. Go see a brake and clutch specialist as another alternative.
