I would like to know the realistic value of a bike in very good condition of the DB4 ie 2004. Its got the top fairing. Very difficult to get any grip over this, have a friend who has one and I am tempted to buy. Its in Europe, history known since new on the bike. All original.

Always a tough question and answer....truth being the price is somewhere between what you are willing to pay and what the seller is willing to let a Bimota go far....and the owner being the owner will always value it at more than any buyer.......

DB4 stock of bikes came out when Bimota went bankrupt meaning a lot were sold at very cheap prices...less than half list price.....Depends if you want the bike to ride or as a museum piece...condition also is a premium....has it had new belts, tyres, brakes good, fuel lines good...has it been used but loved...or simply cleaned and stored?

Price? Not so keen on the twin seat mini fairing as opposed to the carb version single seat tri-color......6-8,000gbp??? One sold in the UK recently which had a 1078 high comp engine in it...mag cases, Duc 999 bottom end...lots of special bits and included the original engine and exhaust....4,000kms...sold on day one of being advertised at 8,000gbp

None for sale in Italy at the moment that I can find...but there is one in Germany...twin seat fuel injected, yellow/black...14,000kms for 8,000 euros...and a tricolor single seat carb version DB4 for 8,490 euros but with 36,000kms on the clock...hope this helps...

Bimota ownership is about being individual and having the best there was of bikes with that engine fitted....and hopefully come selling time you get at least your money back....so look at it as owning and riding the best there was/is...and having it all for free!!... Laughing

This summer there was a single seat, tricolor with a injection engine (converted) for sale in Norway with an asking price of 84000NOK (aprox. 8200GBP). Low milage and known history, but not original...
There seems to be a divide in the prices between the single seated and the dual seat versions, the former being a bit more expencive.
The bikes that are kept original tend to hold (or increase) their value best.

I thought Bimota stopped making the DB4 in 2000?

1998-2000 was the era for making of the Tricolor and Db4ie...and evidently when Bimota went Bankrupt and residual stock was sold off...I've seen pictures of shipping containers full of DB4ie's mostly that were sold off...and then evidently trickled back into the market place....Over here in the UK...and perhaps Europe mainland also....if a bike has never been road registered before...it can be registered as "new" even if 10 years old or more when first "made"...hence you can get newer registered Bimotas than when they were actually made........

Europes kind of stopped this now.....vehicles have to have tax paid when first imported rather than when they are sold....it was quite possible previously to have bought a new registration car...that had actually sat in a field being stored for 7 years before then.......

"new" vdues this can happen to....frames say made 1997-2003...but if never road registered then a 2016 plate can go on them.....rare though as its cheaper to insure if registered as a 1997 bike as its then over 15 years old and hence attracts Classic Bike insurance....

Not in original shape anymore, crashed twice in 15 years but still a blast on track.

Value???? Priceless.... (within reason, of course, so generous offers considered....)
