Hi all, just a quickie. Do you realise that the db2 sidestand and mounting plate weighs over a kilo...? A typical Bimota anachronism (much shaking of heads and nodding in agreement). Also on my db2 with the rear ride height set high the stand is too short.
Question: does a duke 900ss or monster (or other) fit? I assume the mounting points on the crankcase are identical.
Thanks, Kit
PS I've mentioned on my other post if any of you make it to the S of France it would be great to meet you! |

They certainly are heavy.....Corse in Japan used to offer a titanium version....seen them on Ebay occassionally....at around $1,000.....yup....3 zeros....
Db2 and 900ss use the same mounting points on the engine sump...so you are ok there...2 large bolt holes.......But.....different attachment plate....900ss has a sort of extension bracket on the main plate...and side stand length is 22cms.......900ss sidestand length is better at 25cms....But........DB2 has higher ground clearance under the engine to the ground.....20cms as opposed to a 900ss at 15cms......so if you fitted a 900ss stand and plate...you'd probably be back where you started....All DB2's I've seen do indeed have a short sidestand that seems to lean the bike at an impossible angle...but for my bike....its been that way since 1994 and not fallen over yet...I've also modified mine so its no longer a suicide stand....it now stays out when you kick it out and needs to be kicked back in when you get back on.... |

Thanks a lot 2 bims! It's the weight that bugs me most - any idea what the duke stand weighs? I think someone should produce a few with alloy top bit and bottom bit and carbon fibre tube in between. Decent carbon tube would be easily up to the job. Length could be whatever you like. Any takers?
What a great forum this is. |
