Tonight I finished minor refresh of my sb6. Last year a friend of mine dropped it whilst unloading it from a trailer. Broke the screen and did some minor damage to the top fairing. It's taken me 18 months or more to get around to getting the repair done and the paint touched up.

The painter do did a good job but the colour of the red wasn't matched close enough for my liking... so he painted it again. The painting took a looong time but it turned out nice.

It still amazes me when I look at the sb6 without bodywork. The workmanship not the frame and attachments is beautiful and the bodywork is gorgeous.

I took the opportunity to clean things up a little as well.

I bought a new genuine screen which needed some trimming and modification to make it for properly. The joys of owning hand made limited production bikes I guess.

The headlights had become very smokey on the inside of the glass for some reason...

So I removed them and managed to clean them up ok. Make a huge difference to the presentation of the bike

The bike had been sitting for over 18 months with fuel in the tank and carbs. So I cleaned out the tank and stripped and cleaned the carbs.

Surprisingly the carbs were spotless... No gum or blockages at all. The fuel in the tank still looked quite good, just a slight colour change. Leads me to think that our premium 98 octane fuel is quite stable.

Oh Bimota, you crack me up... surely only Bimota would do such a thing? The connector between the fuel tank and the vacuum tap is threaded half way with L/H thread and the other half is R/H thread Shocked

Had all sorts of trouble getting those pesky Phillips head screws out of the carb float bowls this time. Had to use vice grips to get most of them out but had to cut a slot in one with a cutting disc

So I've replaced them with nice stainless capscrews

Another problem fixed. A common issue with these mirrors... the threaded brass insert spins in the plastic housing. I repaired the mirrors on the db4 the same way a few years ago

Drill a 2mm hole and insert a roll pin through the plastic and into the brass insert

Of course the fuel tap nut is half and half. So you only have to turn the tap round and round
