Appears to be done right. Large part of appeal here is that it's a two stroke with a current Cali registration. On the average, this alone adds about $2k-$3k to the price of any 2 stroke with a current California reg.

Commiefornia doesn't allow new registrations of two strokes for road use, hasn't for years. The only road going two strokes here are the ones that had been grandfathered in. Of course, one can get past that law with a special cash infusion directly to DMV official or to the Clinton foundation...

I wonder where he gets the 1 of 3 currently running well on direct injection number from.

Not sure but I don't think that's the way I'd market it. Taking a step back and reading the ad again, especially the part about the injection, I'd be very cautious if I didn't know the brand. Nonetheless, I'd probably make a play for it if a) I didn't have the SB8R and b) I was down to one or two bikes instead of the 4 parked in the garage.

I'm giving this bike some serious consideration and would appreciate any and all comments about it.

In particular when were the crankcase and seal issues solved by the factory?

Were SB6/8r style gauges ever factory fitted to the VDue?

Is there a known documented solution to keeping direction injection?

Thanks in advance for the help.

Start with the easy stuff, gauges are the original injection set up. SB6R/YB11 type of affair, not the best quality, tend to go wrong, nearly impossible to fix.

1 of three injections running properly !!!! I very much doubt that , I know of more than that personally . Although in the UK not USA

Early Injection issues are 2 fold really. The electrical ones and the mechanical ones.
Mechanical were seals , tolerance etc which the carb ones would suffer also .
The 2 injection bikes I personally know of were supplied by Piero with all mods performed , both have engine numbers in the 300's. Not saying an earlier engine number can not be fixed but it not probably been done by Piero . Early engine numbers will need more inspection/proof they also suffered with porous castings.
Electrical , anything is possible now a days so probably not such an issue. Not done a huge amount of miles on an inj vdue but Piero always told me that its the memory size that is the limiting factor to the original injection system with it needing wiping/resetting about every 5-600 miles. So this might explain the clock, although they are temperamental

With the current bid at $16k and reserve not met its a bit outside my comfort zone. Part of the allure of course it's a two stroke with a current Cali tags, a rare combination indeed
