Been stalking this forum for a little bit now and thought i had better actually write something. After first seeing a Bimota YB4 in Gowanloch's in Sydney,Australia back in about 1989 where i purchased a ducati 851 wishing i had more funds at the time as if my memory is correct it was about $7000 dearer than the 851.I Finally got the chance to buy a YB4 after being on the lookout for probably the last 10 or 12 years on the off chance one would eventually come up for sale. Finally got one.If i have read the previous posts correctly am i right in saying Weed used to own this one at some point
Regards Shane

Congrats on the purchase of your YB4 and welcome to forum. Where abouts in Aus are you located? Is that the bike that was for sale in W.A?
Cheers,

Thanks for the PM Shane. I've sent you an email and you've been added to the IFoS display's mailing list. Yours will be another great bike to view. |

I briefly thought about enquiring about it when I saw it come up for sale.
Looking forward to seeing it (and you ) at Eastern Creek in March _________________ '99 DB4 #104, '96 SB6 #1165, '94 DB2 J #652, '99 DB4 #088, '08 VTX1800, '93 ZXR750R M1, '95 ZXR750, '95 ZXR750 Race Bike, '94 CBR400rr NC29 Race Bike, '94 CB250, '49 BSA C10 250, '61 BSA A10 650, '89 ZXR750, '91 Ducati 851 |

Good afternoon Shane. Yes, I used to open that bike a few years ago. I bought it off the original owner that brought it to WA. I then sold it to a friend a few years ago.
It had a pretty gentle history for want of a better word over here & was well looked after.
The last time I saw it, it was in good original condition for a 27 plus year old bike. It certainly went & handled well but it liked to be revved. The muffler was built by Alex at Roo Racing here in Perth. A top quality fabricator.
Good to see the wheel of fortune turn 360 deg & you ultimately ended up with it.

Ah so you bought it off Marty.I did not actually get to speak to the guy you sold it to.Or i don't think so i got the impression i was dealing with a third party, but i have to say he was very helpfull anyway.
You are right in saying it does sit on the road very well, have to say it puts my ducati 851 to shame in that department. The engine i am still getting used to have only put 900 kms on it so far and the last japanese engined bike i rode was like 25 years ago.Been used to ducati twins.
I have to admit that being new to the world of Bimota's it took me a week of just looking at it before i thought of pulling the fairing off then realizing to change the oil filter you have to pull the exhaust off and remove the fuel tank to put oil in.Engineering at its finest.
But at the moment it is the first bike in the garage i want to take out |

Yes, I bought it off Marty. He needed a deposit for a house at the time. |
