Look at the YB5 photo just above and you can see where it originated from. Yes, quite tasty. |

I've only seen this one pic but it could be using Duke 900SS half fairing the tank and tail look "custom". I think they could intergrade a bit better though _________________ Don't read everything you believe |

The YB5 was a fully faired bike so the 'retro' version is really changed from how it was (nice, though). On the other hand, the HB1 was an unfaired bike to start with.
There must a quite a few small high quality workshops in Italy who could manufacture an HB1 type frame and glass fibre bits on a 'franchise' from Bimota, like the people who make replica Rickman and Featherbed frames in this country. Bimota could add a premium for the manufacture being under their auspices and there could be versions for the SOHC Honda and modern engines.
Ah well, it's nice to daydream....

But you'd have to find an engine / donor bike. The thing with the XJR is they're still made and they use the engine in those little race cars, so there must be tuning parts around _________________ Don't read everything you believe |

This guy in USA has already gone the HB1 route although he has added some updated features. Sure he could just supply the 'Kit' though.. its only $$$$$ I guess

There must have been more parts made by Bimota at some time (or some good reps) as here you can see a Bimota tank/seated Z900 Kawa. (seen repro seats on Yahoo Japan website and Bimota/Z1 magazine features)
also seems to be discussion re a CB400 Four kit here
https://honda400four.wordpress.com/2012/07/13/the-bimota-hb1-kit-for-honda-cb400f/ although I mainly like it for the rather tasty pics of original HB1s _________________ Not as many bikes as I would like and already too many to keep up with!

Hello,
the HB1 frame and swingarm kit is available in America but it's big money (about £5000). There's also tank and swinging arm kits available in Japan. Motocicliveloce and Officine8 make swinging arms for 350 Yamahas, '70s CB Hondas and Kawasakis and fuel tanks are also available in Italy, so you can have some of the glamour of the HB1 without the large bills. Also, Airtech in the states make a Z1 glassfibre tank replica.

WOW! This topic and all of those links...and their links...and theirs... sent me wandering down some unusual mental roads that I had not anticipated and showed me some nearly local (in the same state at least) local builder that I might have to visit someday. I had a great time looking at the custom work, reading the historical posts etc...
Now what exactly was I supposed to be doing today?
See. You never know where some forum post might take you. |

Lots more details of the HB1 'replica/homage' here. Hats off to the builder for the craftsmanship and engineering.

Seems some Bimota owners pissed him off when starting this project but IMHO its a real stunner. _________________ Not as many bikes as I would like and already too many to keep up with! |
