Does anyone know where I can get a new screen and seat pad for my newly acquired YB7? _________________ Ducati Multistrada 1200 carbon special.

Hello wooWoochair...so the YB7 finally arrived...thought it was coming yesterday? We need pictures now...
Screens....Hhmmmm...low production run on the YB7...and mostly for the japanese market
Strangely neither Skidmarx nor GP500.de list screens for the YB7...Skidmarx will copy one though, but you have to send yours to them and then they copy and send back with new one in a tint of your choice...evidently you pay postage both ways and cost of new screen....
Paolo of BCP does list one as NOS spares...but ask him if it is a NOS item or remanufactured by others...as I've not heard good reports about the latter....He will be dear...expect upwards of 200 euros or so for the screen...unless its his last one...and 50 euros or so for postage...Welcome to the world of Bimota ownership....best to check the bike over and order other things if going to BimotaClassicParts...saves on ultimate postage cost as he only sends via DHL...Some new front disc bolts would be handy for your bike....He has indicators...but they are too long for the rear...you would need short ones if going "original", and nobody has those..believe me...BCP may say he has them..but don't believe him....and he charges 100 euros a-piece....For seat foam rubber and bump stop..theres plenty on ebay...as yours wil have perished...check for race seat rubber/foam...comes in different thicknesses, cut to size and sand down edges to make a nice chamfered fit...
http://www.bimotaclassicparts.com/en/ricerca?controller=search&orderby=position&orderway=desc&search_query=CUPOLINO+RESERTGLASS+MARCATO+YB7&submit_search=
No price on the above...so you'll have to ask him...better to join his facebook page for BimotaClassicParts...and messenger through that as that's his phone and he always has it on...7 days a week...fortunately he speaks, reads, writes English.
Overall impression of the bike then? seeing as you bought unseen save for Ebay pictures?...Is it coming to the Manchester Bike show at the end of March? If so let me know as we have a YB7 coming but I can get the owner to swap for another YB in the series and he would bring that...

I received the bike first thing on Tuesday.
Overall it's in pretty good shape with just the screen a little scratched and the seat rubber very perished hence the search for those items.
Bike started on the button first time and runs really quietly with no alarming noises, that's the biggest relief.
Bodywork is pretty good with some age related marks and I feel most will polish out ok. There is a small repair to the side fairing by the mirrors which could have been done better but that's about it really.
Overall for the £4K I paid for it it's a great starting point and to be honest if it were resprayed and a bit of fine cleaning it would be mint. _________________ Ducati Multistrada 1200 carbon special.

Sounds good WooWooChair.....and perhaps a lucky escape...If your screen isn't cracked I would have it polished by a specialist...or you can buy the stuff yourself to buff out...all but very deep scratches that is...
This company do race seat closed foam rubber, various sizes and thicknesses

And Again...is the bike able to come to the show? You get 3 No. free tickets if you bring a bike up?? |

woowoohair, welcome to the world of Bimota.
I am not to familiar with the YB series BUT I do know the YB6/7/8 share a fair amount of parts/architecture . Maybe the YB7 shares a screen with the 6 or 8 , and if so I would say you far more likely to find one of those.
I believe Lammie is coming to the Manc show with all of his YB's so might be an opportunity to compare. |
