To get my 6R running anywhere near I disconected the fuel pump, had the carbs ultrasonicly cleaned and then had it set up on a dyno Wink

The current carb settings are not even close to what Bimota say they should be.
When I set the carbs to Bimot's settings, the engine would only tickover with full choke. Crying or Very sad

After pulling my pump apart a couple of times to try and sort out the fueling,
I can't see anything in it that would need servicing Crying or Very sad
My 6R runs fine without the pump Wink

Thats what I thought but the junior dragster guys do it regularly apparently maybe the methanol screws something up.
The bit I don't understand is why should taking the pump of change anything? especially the main jet.
Having tested my SB6R I think the carbs are poo anyway, always have been ever since the GSXR1100M had them fitted the throttle response is dire.Injection is the way to go Cool Cool Cool Cool

Injection is the way to go(........along with a turbo Laughing) but the cost is prohibitive to a lot of us.
I can't help thinking (for several years) that these engines would run better on 38mm carbs instead of the 40mm suzuki san gave them. The 40mm seem to over fuel at every point except the very top end .

The test to do when on the dyno is to take it to say 6000rpm shut the throttle wait unitil it gets to 5000rpm the snap it open. You'll find that the slides go up too quickly and there's not enough fuel.On the road you'll feel this by what seems like an initial drive then a pause then it'll all comes in,this also makes it feel peaky. On the dyno you can repeat it at 6000,7000,and 8000rpm.
The best carbs for throttle response I've found are the Bandit 36mm jobbies.
The way Suzuki eventually tried to cure this on the 600 and 750 srads was to have dual slide speeds by bleeding the vacuum off the slide with valves connected to the CV carb top. This maintains good throttle response without having to much slide speed at lower rpm.
Adapting a efi system from a GSXR1000 should be easy enough, you just need a rotor to be made the throttle bodies pump etc the hardest part is getting the cam pos sensor on. Cool Cool

The 6R doesn't need the fuel pump, and the carbs are fine on that motor. The fuel pump is driven from vacuum in the intake, but is ported from the wrong side of the carbs, so increases/decreases fuelling at the completely wrong time. IE, gives bigger flow on a shut throttle on the overun, and less on a wide open throttle. The GSXR was gravity fed, as was the SB6, so no point in the 6R. Plus the float valves are not strong enough to hold back the fuel pressure, hence all the overfuelling symptoms everyone sees.
The stock carbs can be jetted very well, once all the external influences are taken away, and have mine fuelling spot on, regardless of revs/throttle openings etc. be it on the street, dyno or track.
