Hi Stu, I'll give an update, only because someone asked . Wasn't sure if the non Bimota chit chat was wearing thin with some on here
The new (2nd hand) engine ran perfectly! Really happy with how the bike in general went. Once I got a little more used to the track and was going quicker, it did boil on one occasion when I got back to the pits... chucked a new radiator cap on and all was good then.
The rider ass usual was the limiting factor. I entered in 2 different categories to double my track time, so...
On the 2 practice sessions I was fairly slow and still learning the track.
The 2 qualifying sessions were progressively better to the point that I was feeling pretty good.
Race 1, I was going really good and happy with the way I was riding, had an SV650 right on my back wheel with a better rider on board and the pressure got to me, pushed a little hard and lost the front crashing out.
Missed the next race due to patching up the bike, plenty of duct tape on the bodywork, new foot peg, straightened a few brackets and bars etc, bit of duct tape here and there on my leathers. Put the bike back through scruteneering and back for the next race.
I did another 6 races without crashing, but my times were slower due to being pretty sore and stiff.
All in all it was a really good day and my first real race meeting on my own bike. _________________ '99 DB4 #104, '96 SB6 #1165, '94 DB2 J #652, '99 DB4 #088, '08 VTX1800, '93 ZXR750R M1, '95 ZXR750, '95 ZXR750 Race Bike, '94 CBR400rr NC29 Race Bike, '94 CB250, '49 BSA C10 250, '61 BSA A10 650, '89 ZXR750, '91 Ducati 851 |

I now need to do a crash course (no pun intended) in fibreglassing to fix the bodywork between now and Saturday week for the next race meet.
Need to buy a new helmet too as I fucked my Arai Corsair _________________ '99 DB4 #104, '96 SB6 #1165, '94 DB2 J #652, '99 DB4 #088, '08 VTX1800, '93 ZXR750R M1, '95 ZXR750, '95 ZXR750 Race Bike, '94 CBR400rr NC29 Race Bike, '94 CB250, '49 BSA C10 250, '61 BSA A10 650, '89 ZXR750, '91 Ducati 851 |

Sorry to hear you've got some work ahead of you, but glad to hear your still walking around. You can only get better, good luck in the next one. |
