It came on and the engine is running but very rough and will not idle. I looked through previous post but do not see anything. Does anyone know what might be wrong |

no one has any ideas on why the bike won't start? The light is called the injection malfunction light. |

Fuel pump? Fuel Filter blocked? O ring impeding QR connecters? Has anything been done to the bike recently? |

I know nothing about the new db's sorry. My only suggestion would be to take it to a Ducati dealer. They may not be much help if your DB7 has a different ECU though. _________________ '99 DB4 #104, '96 SB6 #1165, '94 DB2 J #652, '99 DB4 #088, '08 VTX1800, '93 ZXR750R M1, '95 ZXR750, '95 ZXR750 Race Bike, '94 CBR400rr NC29 Race Bike, '94 CB250, '49 BSA C10 250, '61 BSA A10 650, '89 ZXR750, '91 Ducati 851 |

the bike was running fine with no work done recently. The light came on and went off a couple of times. While riding the light came on and the bike started running really rough. Now it will not start |

Without knowing anything about DB7's myself, I would check all of the easy stuff first. Battery voltage, battery lead connections, all electrical connectors, all ground connections, fuses.
I would disconnect all electrical connectors that I could find and clean them an apply dielectric grease, including removing, cleaning and applying dielectric grease to all of the ground connections. These new bikes have a lot of electronics and sensors. Throttle position sensor, crank sensor, oxygen sensor? _________________ '99 DB4 #104, '96 SB6 #1165, '94 DB2 J #652, '99 DB4 #088, '08 VTX1800, '93 ZXR750R M1, '95 ZXR750, '95 ZXR750 Race Bike, '94 CBR400rr NC29 Race Bike, '94 CB250, '49 BSA C10 250, '61 BSA A10 650, '89 ZXR750, '91 Ducati 851 |

Does the engine warning light flash to give you a fault code? _________________ '99 DB4 #104, '96 SB6 #1165, '94 DB2 J #652, '99 DB4 #088, '08 VTX1800, '93 ZXR750R M1, '95 ZXR750, '95 ZXR750 Race Bike, '94 CBR400rr NC29 Race Bike, '94 CB250, '49 BSA C10 250, '61 BSA A10 650, '89 ZXR750, '91 Ducati 851 |

I had exactly the same issue on my DB9
It turned out to be a dodgy relay feeling the injection loom
Go to the right hand side ( near the V of the engine close to the area where everything is hot and you burn your fingers) find a batch of 3 or 4 5 pin electrical relays all grouped together in a fancy mount
Swap and see if the ign failure engine light goes out
Ducati changed the relay supplier in late 2011 could be the issue......the new ones are sealed for life
Took my a while to go through the fuses, connectors and relays until I found the problem...since then I have bought some silicon electrical grease....makes better contact, sticks and breaks really easily....it is non setting but very waterproof.
Good luck

Please please please don't try to go down this route just yet....try the other stuff..particularly the relays swap...a few folk have had bead relays on the DB7.
I have the programmes....cant be emailed only on disc or memory stick...but then you need the special cable also...and they are all sold out...and then youneed the special laptop programme also....nothing newer...Windows stuff doesn't apply....if you lived near Bob of Bimota Spirit he could help...as he has portable laptop and programmes and the lead |

I will head to my local Ducati dealer. Is there an option for replacing the Walbro system? |
