Sorry all. I forgot to update the thread. Peter James did come back to me and offered cover on the YB6 for a very small adjustment in premium to my current policy which i went with.

Apparently KGM have an excluded list which does include some, but not all Bimota but the lady did not or could not say which ones. Apparently the SB6R is because the premium adjustment to add that was frightening!

So my PJ insurance is due at the end of the month.
Not had any form of renewal so gave them a call today.
KGM have refused to insure me because they do not deal in ' YOUR KIND OF BIKES ' was the PJ official reply.
PJ have found be an alternative quote from one of the other 2 places they deal with but did not inform me of it as they did not feel it was competitive.

So for the privilege of being knocked off and writing off my DB5R off last June(a claim that is still ongoing) , my renewal has gone from 1100 in 2017 to 4270 in 2018 !!
Super !!

Bit of an update on insurance if anyone interested.
Mine is due tomorrow and spent many hours on the phone over the last few weeks talking to PJ and others.

So I got a renewal from PJ , 4 times the policy cost from last year, new underwriter Morgan something as KGM no-longer covered 99% of my bikes. The YB11 was the only one not on their exclusion list. Oh and the 4.5k quote did not cover BB3, that was another 2.5k plus tracker !!!

Rang a few places that advertise multi-bike , Carole-nash/be-wise etc, I know , don't tell me , stupid waste of time but I had to try !!

Went back to Footman James who I moved from in 2016 and after 3 days they came back with 3.5k including the BB3 , so making progress , only 4 days until insurance runs out !!

Decided to do one last google search, put in specialist bike insurance as search rather than multi-bike and found this place .

https://www.rhspecialistinsurance.co.uk/

Did a bit of internet research as never heard of them and then gave them a call .
Chap I spoke to actually knew who/what Bimota were !!! ( good start) , place do all there own underwriting ( owned by Hiscox) , went away and phoned back a few hours later with a quote and details.
OK , insurance gone up from last year , but had a claim and I also added the BB3 , so increase of 750 over last year seems reasonable TBH.

Bloke said they are always happy to help clubs etc so suggest it might be worth giving them a go when your renewals come up.

Another interesting turn - just had a very interesting call from PJ , all of a sudden , because I had not taken their kind offer of 4.5k insurance they have managed to do me a last minute mega deal as my insurance up in 12hrs and taken 25% off the policy !!!!!! WTF !!!!! Really !!!! Muppets !!!

I spoke to them recently, they sent some email, for a quote ...
I asked about a modern bike because of the T charge coming in in London next month and it getting rolled out to the north + south circular next year. So i asked what was the youngest bike i could insure. They said 96 ... ok.

Strange as my SB6 is a 94 and it was still on their Bad Boy list.
Although I tend to believe it is not my bikes on the list but ME as I dared to make a claim for getting knocked off, which is still not sorted 8mths later !!
Anyway, hope your quote is OK EC.
So what 'New' bike are up you thinking of ?

My renewal notice from PJ turned up Saturday. Tad under 380 for 8 bikes including the Tuatara. That's up 12 from last year and includes a Moto Martin, Harris Magnum and a hugely modded Z900. I'm happy with that! Will ring them tomorrow to see if they will add my Ducati 999 as its now reached the magic 15 years old.

Blimey, is that for road cover? They are charging me 310 for six bikes for 'off the road' cover

In YOUR garage theres far more chance of them being damaged than being used on the road though Paul....and theres that dodgy area you live in....I pay circa 500 for ten bikes.....

The area isn't that dodgy, but I agree there is more chance of the bikes being damaged in the garage due to my dodgy knees and trip hazards Laughing

TBH all insurance companies told me that off road was not much of a saving as I tried that to reduce my policy as tend to only ride 3-4 of my bikes a year anyway to keep a bit of rotation up and also reminds me of the pleasures of each one when its turn comes around every 4 years.

My main problem is also having modern bikes. I have a over a 50/50 split modern to classics which is what really kills my insurance. The thing that really pissed me off with PJ was they could not give me a straight story, it changed every time I spoke to them. I would far rather them say we don't want to insure you anymore as a bad risk than lie to me , and I told them this on a few different occasions but the stories still kept coming.

They say you only know how good your insurance is when you make a claim and I can only report on my experience so far.

This whole process has taught me I don't like the way KGM work. Everything is subbed out. I have been through 4 different claims handlers/companies as it is not a simple Honda/suzuki case. Every time it gets a bit complicated the claim gets passed on to another company who deals in slightly hard case's. However I am not told this has happened , I am not given the new case number ( as each has their own and does not recognise the others) , I have to supply ALL the information again as this does not get passed on , and not one of the companies has ever bothered their arse to contact my witness !!
The accesses are self employed and obviously on a fixed rate per job, so again as he could not get a value out of a book and had to put some effort in , he was not interested as that was eating into his profit . So it was upto me to spend weeks chasing up spare parts etc, then after the parts could not be found it was upto me to get prices together for market value . The only saving grace is I did not have agreed value as that only ever works in their favour.
I paid 1350 last year for insurance which I thought was reasonable considering what bikes it covered, but neither PJ or KGM seem to want to put any effort in for the money I have paid them.

I made a claim on my house insurance about 5 yrs ago when my mountain bike was stolen out of the shed, I was insured with Aviva at the time ( and still am) , Within 3 days of making the claim I had an online account set up with Wheelies cycle with 3.5K in it for a replacement bike , it was that simple, AND my policy renewal went up by about 7 the flowing year !! Now that was good service and that is why I am still insured with them.
