Turning a DB1R frame into a Motorcycle

Donor Ducati - check

Front end - check

Rear suspension - Shocked

Pics so far: https://goo.gl/photos/ew7J6uYYVKH4Gmm97

Still healing from my mountain bike face plant. Can't use my left hand or right arm so it's affecting my bike building a bit.

More soon,
Adam

Back from visiting family on the east coast and have been giving the DB1 some attention. Looks like the rear suspension will work out with some clevises on a plate welded onto the swingarm. There's a lot to do, fuel system, rearsets, etc. but one step at a time. Looks like this might be a motorcycle one day!

Just got everything back from the FrameMan. All better now. Got the fuel system parts in too (going to have a reserve which may save my ass one day). Time to order some bodywork soon.

Hi Adam

I have a DB1 and am just going through the process of changing the fuel taps. How are you fitting a reserve that you will have access to when the body work is fitted, or are you not intending to run fully enclosed body work? I have a DB1Sr or RS depending on who is telling the story which I am partially restring so any other tips would be helpful.

Mark

Dang, didn't see these back in 2013. (There's nothing like a breakup, a new job and buying a house to delay a Bimota project. But now I'm getting my brain wrapped around it all again.)

Get it all sorted, Mark? I've decided to run full DB1R bodywork. If I remember correctly, I'll keep my taps on reserve and use them as crossovers. A shut off is nice when pulling the tank off anyway. Weld some bungs into the bottom of the tank and hookup the fuel injection hoses.

I think I saw the vacuum operated taps somewhere online. Should I look for them?

bimota_rider - I moved up from San Jose to Oakland. And thanks!

Best,
Adam

Well, it took 5 years but I've been test riding the DB1R. Here's a link to photos: https://goo.gl/photos/ew7J6uYYVKH4Gmm97

Merry Christmas, everyone!

Best regards,

Congratulations. It's a lot of work for a bike that's in one piece and all the parts are right there. Your's is a whole different dimension what with all those fabrications, modifications, and adaptations. The swing arm is masterful and your overall attention to detail is ... scary.

Thanks for all those other pictures, too. Where in the world did you get those? I am seriously impressed.
