It's time for another Quail Motorcycle Gathering in Carmel, CA
http://signatureevents.peninsula.com/en/Motorcycle/Motorcycle.html
Last year was first time for me to visit and to display. It was an incredible opportunity to be around legends of motorcycling both human and mechanical.
The show is part of a two day affair. First day is a 100 mile ride limited to 100 bikes which sells out in matter of hours (I missed the ride last year). The second day is the actual show.
I am bringing my Dieci for ride and display, looking forward to seeing any members in the area (quikduk ) show up. The display of bikes in the parking lot rivals that of the show plus you know that those parked outside do run.
I'll try to post up photos but will need some guidance. Cheers! _________________ 1991 Bimota YB10

Just got back in last night. Dieci is off the van and garaged. Good thing I got that done early, Queen Bee had plans already and I was thoughtfully included...after two nights of short naps, early mornings and almost a 6 hr drive back. Anyhow, I took bunch of picks but will need to review Steve's instructions on uploading. The Dieci did get some attention at the time we were about to enter Laguna Seca:

Thanks to Steve, I am now able to add photos onto this here forum. These photos are from 2018 Quail Ride and the show.
Lining up for the ride:
I really liked this KZ1:
but I loved this MV:
PS, I made friends with owner of this beauty simply by offering help to unload the bike from his truck. It took 2nd place Italian Bike at the show, quite an honor...
This MV was cool too, but it was a replica:
more participants:
Waiting to enter the track at Laguna Seca:
Quail ride continues...:

Does look like a grand weekend to participate in....and congrats on posting.....feels like quite an achievement the first time you do it......Some block of wood under the Yammie sidestand....and a nice blue tank MV....there was one at the Isle of Man TT being ridden around on the road....its number plate was "4 AGO"....which was quite nice also........The UK do some show weekends where you ride around a track and go to the paddocks...but I dont know of any with the same prestige where you also ride out on the road.....that would cancel a LOT of UK participants at such an event with them either not being road legal or insured/taxed for the ride out...perhaps only the Isle of Man TT parade lap would come close......If you clicked on "huge thumbnails"...the pictures would come out Laptop size |

Thanks again Steve. I have more pictures to come, including several Bimota bikes. The ticket for the ride which also included breakfast, lunch and reception dinner was still a hefty $375/rider. The riders were escorted by California Highway Patrol all the way, including track, and they were enjoying themselves just as much as the participants. The CHP blocking traffic, there was no stopping along the route which was very cool. First time I ran a red light in front of the CHP and got a wave from the cop... _________________ 1991 Bimota YB10

You have to right click on each picture....and "save as" onto your laptop...then upload to imgur and post from there...at least that way the pictures are "saved" and in a location on your laptop also...unusual that the website allows the pictures to be copied.....wouldn't happen in the UK...you'd have to buy each picture you wanted

Steve, thanks again for your help. I inherited a MacBook Air from my son, not sure on right or left clicking on the Mac. Can't say I am very happy with the Apple computer although I am a fan of the iPhone.
The last picture you have there is of a 1974 MV 750s. I met the owner, very nice guy. Bike originally came from Europe into Canada and he was quick enough to snap it up. He recently spent over $10k on going through the motor and trans.
The picture on the track was our first stop on the Quail Ride. As you can see, you pretty much ride what you bringeth. There were two more legs to the general ride and I ended up being behind the said MV on the twisties - the sound of that engine was outstanding. I just hung behind that MV listening to the glorious sounds... _________________ 1991 Bimota YB10

Inheriting a laptop is fine....its the operator skills that need to be passed up thru the inheritance line....that's the job of my now 16 year old son...when he has the time and patience with me and my fat digits on a keyboard that is....Hes so "techno" mad....He's not even on Facebook...as of course "that's for Dads and old people.....".... |

I was doing ok with Windows, but my son upgraded to a new Mac book and gave his old one. Its sharing the user skills he's been a little stingy with. _________________ 1991 Bimota YB10
