Certainly are some very nice bikes on here.
That is one smart Ducati you have.. forgive me for asking, that is a 900ss not sl ?? How is the engine standing up to the 2 pack paint? I've tried various different products for engine cases, they either get washed away at the slightest sniff of fuel or go sticky when they get hot. The latest engines I've done ive left bare after vapour blasting.
Regards.

Are you talking about my red 900SS with white frame and white wheels? 1991 model??...as in this resto?

http://www.bimotaforum.co.uk/viewtopic.php?t=1611&start=180

If so...everything came apart...full nut and bolt resto...crankcase halves were vapor blasted....acid etched and 2-pack painted silver....."2nd part of paint addition for durability and hardness)…..then they received many coats of fuel resistant HIGH temp lacquer able to withstand 600 degrees Celsius apparently.....The crankcase covers were acid dipped and powder coated...the cylinder heads were vapour blasted and ceramic coated black by ceram coat in warrington...valve covers were dipped again and powder coated

I did search and search for a "superlight" to do a full nut and bolt resto on....but prices had already gone silly....and when I looked into the differences between one and a 900SS I realised it was just clever marketing by Ducati......rip off the twin seat unit and panels and throw on a single seat fibreglass piece....all right...the first ones had special wheels and a couple of carbon trinkets.....so I went further and added more carbon bits and billet pieces....and paint like it SHOULD have been done in the first place...stuff that stays on....hey ho

Yet another Grand Day out.....

You spend all morning cleaning off the bug splats on your finest example of Bimotas greatest machines....including wiping the gold anodised rough forged Oz racing wheels with WD40....works great in removing ingrained brake dust that had "dulled" their usual shiney lustre....then wipe and dry off and polish with aldis finest 69pence silicon furniture polish....(WD40 and polish applied direct to cloths and then wiped onto rims to avoid overspray onto tyres or discs)…...You then turn up at your favourite venue......sit yourself down with a few fellow Bikers and BimotaForum members...……..Then...……..

As if by Magic when the shopkeeper appears...…….

Another fellow Forum member turns up on his finest Rimini Hand built example from his ToyBox….and promptly out "Toptrumps" you on all fronts....Bigger engine...More HP...lighter....RRP higher....and just goddarn better and better in every way, shape and fashion......Doh……….

So...I turn up and play my ace card...Mr DB5R...limited to just 40 No. Examples in the 1078cc guise of the model

My mate turns up on his Yammie tricked out R1M special thingie.....Nah....no competition...still a nice bike

But then in the distance can be heard the low, ever increasing rumble of an approaching Ducati twin.....

Clatter clatter clatter introduces itself into the symphonic performance....yet still no sign of whats coming....just the ever recogniseable croscendo.......

My Hero.....the nameless man.....had muted that he would be attending on one of Riminis finest examples of bespoke styling and pure excellence....a choice of 2 was provided....and I merely replied prior to his setting off.."surprise me"

"L'oro nero del Bimota"

Can you see it yet???

Nope.....??....What? you want me to close in on it??/ Happy to oblige

PURE PORN.....

I quickly offered my customary handshake offered to all the Bimota bretheren when they happily, mechanically, safely arrive at a venue....AND....then I promptly knelt down and bowed and offered praise to the LAmighty King and ruler of the World of Bimota...>The worlds first production Bike EVER...with a full carbon fibre frame and swingarm....Not given to "man-hugs"...well....Ever since Geekay a proud and manly Yorkshireman gave me one after his first ever ride on a Bimota Vdue.....but yes...I did indeed hug quite vigourously the Rider with no Name......cue Ennio Morricone music score....click and play and come back to post for music to continue in the background...)

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=h1PfrmCGFnk

So...the showdown was on....Yammie R1M....Bimota DB5R....and...DB7...Oro Nero......

We even had the stone circle set out in front of us to set the scene further.....Sticker Steve had asked me if I was bringing rope in case my bimota broke down and I'd need a toe....I duly obliged...and added that there was plenty of tall strong trees at Rivi Barn to hang him from......

To those that were there, and those that witnessed the outcome, stories will come...tales will be twisted....only the 3 know...El Bueno...El Malo...and El Bruto....

Some crowds gathered to see the final victor......Scratching of chins...and hands josstling in pockets....wondering if they can believe what they are seeing...and what the heck it is and where did it come from??/

Place was quite busy up there...this is one of the carparks forbikes...but theres others....

I'd heard there was food around the corner so followed my nose...only to stare in amazement at the crowds gathered...wow I thought..the food must be good here!!

And round the corner...I was always told "where theres smoke...theres burgers being cooked..."

These are the crowds staring at the DB7 Oro NEro

Apparently...although I think its just a viscious rumour...there was some sporting event going on at the time???...beats me...

And to end???

el vencedor

or in Italian as maybe more fitting

il vincitore

Veni Vidi Vici....

Wowee….Its been nearly a year since I last posted in my "Another Grand Day out"...But I suppose thats what happens when your Bimbo buddy that ably assisted in riding my bikes...goes and moves away and buys a ruddy pub.....

HeyHo…..Bring on Board "Geekay MkII"...I'd like to say the new and improved Version of Geekay....but discretion takes the better of me....and I'll let the Original and MkII versions make their own opnions….

Anyhow...Glorious Bank Holiday Weekend weather...UK Bonus...so off to "break my Cherry" on a Moto Guzzi…..Couple of Photo Opportunities on the way

Swapsies time and Mr Griso given its first ride out by me....Oh Me oh my....a Guzzi….albeit its the 8 valve version....and my first shaftie also....

This is lunch time break for a quick cold refreshment

There was an offer for me to swap back to my own bike....albeit quickly made and GK MkII still had the key for my DB6....I think the offer expired 15 seconds after it was made....

I bit like when GK MkI and I went out on DB2 and DB4.....DB4 initially for GK...then we swapped over at 1st stop....subsequent stops and no offers to swap back were forthcoming.....

Ah well...maybe the return trip on the Guzzi will make it grow on me????

And Safely back …...and keys exchanged back to their rightful owners

And a few arty by my standards...of DB6 on the way back thru Goyt Valley ….

Happy to report that the Moto Corse titanium Oil rad cover survived its first outing....

Cheers for the assitance in "ticking a box" with any thoughts I harboured on buying a Guzzi GK Mk II.......Now if come the start of May...she should consider taxing any more bikes??...Be sure to give me a bell...thx

As per the title....This time...It was "2Stroke Day".....So I lent my Sons DT125R to Sticker Steve....and I wheeled out and fuelled up my KDX220R...and then it was off to Chinley in the Peak District

Rolled up in Chinley for a bite to eat and Mr MC was just donning his jacket.....and outside of an open garage..."Just coming back or just going out?" I enquired.......MOTO GP had just finished so he was going out to emulate his racing buddies.....On his Vdue of course......Hhmmmm....

KDX220 was on "fumes" and I'd forgotten my splash and go 100ml of 2-stroke oil for top ups...and only had enough to just get back home....

"Drag out a DB6 or DB10"...The kind man in the brown leather jacket proffered....."Dont mind if I do.....thank you very much"....

Sticker Steve now facing the task of playing chase and catch up on my DT125R whilst Nice man is on his Vdue caning it...and I'm aboard a Bimota DB6.....wet clutch...1000cc????...Not sure...I didnt even check what motor it was

Twas a lovely day out....followed by Biker chat and great Grub at the Old Hall.....For which I sneaked off on a "toilet visit" to be able to pay and then it was a quick dash home to finish off the day.....All to be sort of repeated again this Sunday for the Crich event.....

A cracking Day....great company , great mates....great food and Bikes to play on....and perfect weather......Who could ask for more?....So...it wasn't "Rivi Barn" time....where apparently a Tesi 3D naked was spotted once again and I missed it....and it was "2-up" sporting someones eldest child on a run out on a Bimota...well done
