I know what fall is, just asking WHEN he considers it to be ???? As it will make a difference to what is on the Isle of Man, also would guess a little Island in the Irish sea in October'ish time may be very cold and damp !!
Agree Stockcar , is other things to do Laxey Wheel, train up the mountain , Steam train to Port Erin , Scenery/Walking/Mountain biking etc etc, but for a first trip and as a pre 2019 TT visit , it may be a bit disappointing/flat.
On the 2019 TT visit front Chuck , I have already booked ferries and Hotel for 2019, and most places Hotel wise are selling out fast. So sooner rather than later will give you more choice. |

Saves you a fortune and the roads are empty and beautiful beaches and "old skool" charm...defo recommend going when theres no events on...as you can still drive or ride the full race circuit....its easily identifiable as they leave all the names of the bends on signs in place |

Paton had a large presents in the light weight race ( 650 twins) this year. 2017 there were 2 Paton's in the race and Michael Rutter won on one of them. This year there must have been 6-8 Paton's on the start grid with Michael Dunlop taking the win on one. |

I know next to nothing about Paton’s. The current Paton are a bit like Bimota. Nice frame and cycle parts but a mass produced engine , Kawasaki ER6 motor.
Now the 'lightweight ' class was started for cheap racing , twins upto 650 , started as mainly Suzuki SV650 , then went onto ER6. They are allowed to use any cycle component from the manufacturer, so SV650 fitted GSXR600 forks and wheels , Kawasaki ER6 fitted ZXR636 stuff. You get the idea , Frame standard , swing arm I think they can change , engine can get top end tune/blueprint etc.
Last year lots of people moaned at TT as they said the 20k Paton was not in the spirit of the class when Rutter won , until it was pointed out they probably spent more than that custom building their Suz/Kawa specials and hence I think alot more Patons now in class as they come with Ohlins etc, just need an engine tune and ready to race !! |

Wow that’s very interesting Vort. Sounds like a very competitive bike could be built for sure.
The main class that I race in over here (F3), has limits of 400cc 4cyl, 650 2cyl, 1000cc single cyl. Mostly old crappers like my CBR400rr, some ZXR’S, SV650’s etc and then the young blokes on there R3’s etc. There’s a couple crafty blokes who have taken advantage of the larger capacity single and bolted 650, 660 and bigger dirt bike engines into say, a NSR or RGV frame with nice brakes and suspenders... these guys are killer and very hard to beat _________________ '99 DB4 #104, '96 SB6 #1165, '94 DB2 J #652, '99 DB4 #088, '08 VTX1800, '93 ZXR750R M1, '95 ZXR750, '95 ZXR750 Race Bike, '94 CBR400rr NC29 Race Bike, '94 CB250, '49 BSA C10 250, '61 BSA A10 650, '89 ZXR750, '91 Ducati 851 |
