Don't call me shirley on the forum 😉
Haven't tried swapping them but I'd ass-ume the tolerances from one carb to another would be similar.
I was recommended to use some lube _________________ Don't read everything you believe |

Update.
I took the seals off and slipped them onto a small socket then span them in my leccy screwdriver against some glass paper.
Then I dropped one and couldn't find it, so I packed up ... which is when I found it again
I assembled the carbs using some rubber grease and the floats located. The bike stated and ran better, but starting was a bit off. I've run it up a few times since and its getting better.
MOT'd it on Saturday before getting ill for the rest of the long weekend.
I found this thread on carb cleaning which looks good http://old-skool-suzuki.proboards.com/thread/1239/mikuni-40mm-carbs-bst-bible _________________ Don't read everything you believe |

Got the bike up and running on a temporary tank. Just fitted the tank again just now. There is a small tapping just next to the electrical connection coming from the centre of the tank underneath, where does this tapping connect to? Been that long I can't remember now lol! |

I’m not familiar with the 6R tank, from memory the bottom of my 6 tank only has the fuel outlet where the vacuum tap attaches and the hole for the useless fuel level switch. Breather outlet on top.
Would the other connection on yours be a drain hose from the filler neck area maybe? _________________ '99 DB4 #104, '96 SB6 #1165, '94 DB2 J #652, '99 DB4 #088, '08 VTX1800, '93 ZXR750R M1, '95 ZXR750, '95 ZXR750 Race Bike, '94 CBR400rr NC29 Race Bike, '94 CB250, '49 BSA C10 250, '61 BSA A10 650, '89 ZXR750, '91 Ducati 851 |

Had the bike running very bad after its winter stop 3 years ago.
Fed it pure Forte Moto Power; didn't fix it. Above 6000rpm it would really take off, but below that rpm it was undrivable. I think there are different stages in the carbs with a cut-over at 6krpm.
Happily I know a race mechanic who works at a dealership who took the carbs apart, did an ultrasonic clean, resealed and then readjusted them.
Couldn't get idle below 1400rpm as it started galloping due to the open J&S pipes.
Before I had the issue idle had always been at 1000 rpm.
After a while, idle dropped to 1000 rpm again. All normal again, I thought.
Then, a retired Bimota mechanic told me to stop using ethanol holding fuel, at least run a tank of proper fuel before I park it before winter. The only commercially available non (or very low) ethanol fuel I'm aware of is BP Ultimate 98.
I switched and, lo and behold, idle is back at 1400 rpm. Never looked back and never had issues with starting after 3-4 month winter sleep.
It still feels as if the afterburners kick in at 6krpm.
I'm using only BP Ultimate 98 these days; more expensive at the pump, but a lot cheaper overall as I have no issues with the fuel systems anymore. _________________ 1998 Bimota SB6R

I’m in Aus and I only use ‘premium’ 98 octane in my sports bikes now. I left my SB6 parked up with 98 in the tank and carbs for 12 months. I eventually drained the tank and the fuel had discoloured but still looked good, I didn’t risk using it but it was good parts cleaner. I stripped the carbs to clean them and they were still spotless, no sign of gum or crud at all. _________________ '99 DB4 #104, '96 SB6 #1165, '94 DB2 J #652, '99 DB4 #088, '08 VTX1800, '93 ZXR750R M1, '95 ZXR750, '95 ZXR750 Race Bike, '94 CBR400rr NC29 Race Bike, '94 CB250, '49 BSA C10 250, '61 BSA A10 650, '89 ZXR750, '91 Ducati 851 |

Quick update: I contacted BP Consumer Services NL this morning and they replied within an hour (!) that indeed BP Ultimate 98 does not contain any ethanol (i.e. is a E0 fuel) and there are no plans to change that on short notice.
Euro 95 is an E5 fuel, and E10 will be 'very likely' introduced before 2020.
I think the 2020 timelime is because of the guys with the guns, who peddle the CO2 lie and are lobbied by the Bio corporations.
Bottom line: BP Ultimate is still safe, possibly with the exception of the South of England, Devon/Cornwall, as apparently that was already an exception in the past (according to the Triumph register). _________________ 1998 Bimota SB6R

I've been a BP Ultimate user for a good few years - hasn't prevented my 6R tanks from suffering the ethanol swell! _________________ What, Jonny's gone! |

The lie that we need to have destructive ethanol in petrol to reduce CO2 as that supposedly is a poison causing 'Global Warming'.
Falls in the same category as 'hole in the ozone layer' and 'acid rain'.
Common denominator is that it makes people bleed money, destroying property and prosperity.
UN Agenda21

Maybe you could ask BP Consumer Services UK?
My original document was this, from BP Australia, which is now confirmed by BP NL.
The UK info I could find was here, but dated 2016, and I'm fairly sure the forum where it came from was this one, now defunct, so probably older. _________________ 1998 Bimota SB6R
