Hello all,

New member here, former DB4 owner. Sold the DB4 a few years ago and now have the itch again.

I'm looking for a YB11 in nice condition, ready to ride. I already have too many projects in the garage, not looking for another one.

I'm located in central Florida, but am willing to travel to, or ship, the right bike.

Thanks,
John

Thanks. Saw that one too.

I spoke to the seller, right after he'd taken a deposit on the bike.

Add exchange rate, shipping and the $3500AUD "compliancing fee" once it gets here and it's not quite as awesome.... sigh.

$3500? So how do the importers get away with it then - or is that because it's under 30 years old? Isn't there a one off/limited import loophole like they do with the grey import cars?

Having said that the BB4 for sale on eBay by old mate at Springwood seems to suggest that the answer to this is no.

Certain bikes (post 88 build) are able to be complianced by "RAWS" workshops under the SEVS scheme - but they have to have been imported with that intention to start with I believe... so given that all the post 88 stuff that Simon brings is is brought in dissassembled with the fuel tanks thrown in the bin because of the shitfight with Japanese shipping companies that is involved, it's difficult... However, YB6/8/9/10/11 and SB6/SB6R are able to be complianced by Bruce Hartwig at East Brisbane... at a $3500 "certification" fee... From what I have learned, the SB8 family and VDue bikes are unable to be complianced because no-one has taken on the job, which at a cost of ~$15,000 you need to compliance a few to make it worth while. This may all change in a couple of years though, there's talk of the SEVS rort being scrapped.

That would explain why his workshop is full of various Bimotas in states of disassembly and why the BB4 has no fuel tank!
