I was having quite a chuckle about your comment "does it ever stop...." because you well know as we all do that the answer is no. I'm doing a CB900F2, hailwood Replica and a Z1300 at the moment (the Hailwood tried to immolate itself so was unplanned resto) and every time I think that'll look ok I come back to it 5 minues later thinking that looks crap and so on it goes. And you know if you don't fix it it's the one thing that'll always get your attention even if you can't see if except for lying on your back in a pit with the bike suspended from the ceiling!!! _________________ pkay

Hey Guys... I hate to say it, but there is no way something rolling around on the inside of your tyre is going to balance it! I would be finding another service provider. |

Hi who,
the beads don't roll around, centrifugal force disperses them where the weight would be once measured on the wheel balance machine....
Too many people use them for them not to work, Brian has them in his bike and noticed improvement... The guys i bought them from swear by them and i can't see why they would risk customer satisfaction for a $20 sale... _________________ Cheers

There's a good demonstration video on YouTube, search Dyna Beads. They do work. I don't use them on my sports bikes or race bike, but I have used them on my VTX1800 as I get more mileage out of the cruiser tyres _________________ '99 DB4 #104, '96 SB6 #1165, '94 DB2 J #652, '99 DB4 #088, '08 VTX1800, '93 ZXR750R M1, '95 ZXR750, '95 ZXR750 Race Bike, '94 CBR400rr NC29 Race Bike, '94 CB250, '49 BSA C10 250, '61 BSA A10 650, '89 ZXR750, '91 Ducati 851 |

Okay, I would say avoid cliches like the plague.
Take the wheel off. and take it to a tyre balancer. do a before and after.
There are so many reasons why this is bullshit!
Do you remember Peter Brocks crystals?
I've never balanced a tyre, unless asked to do so... never had an issue. |

I ticked another job off the to-do list today...
The original mufflers were not looking to pretty, i have been wondering what would be the best way to bring them back to their best... Ceramic coat, black chrome or just paint? As i now have a deadline, the Festival of Italian Motorcycles on the 12th November, paint was the only choice with the time available...
I really wanted a gloss finish, as that is what i think that is how they left the factory, from what i'd seen of ceramic coatings, they were between satin and matt, an excellent option for the headers... Spending many hours last night researching high temp paints, i decided to chance "Brake Caliper Paint" over exhaust paint, again due to the gloss only being available for calipers with a lower 500 degree heat rating..
So for an hour or so today, i was rubbing 30 years of crud and paint from the mufflers, getting them ready for a few coats of paint.. What a shit dirty job, but at least it is now done, and the mufflers are looking great.
Down the track, once i find out exactly the finish applied at the factory, i may revisit my choice, but for now, the mufflers look great for the festival...
Here are some pics as i know how you all enjoy pics..

It's been a long time since i updated this thread... to be honest, i'd forgotten my login details for this flickr account!
Work has been progressing, the brakes are almost sorted.. I decided on fitting some Brembo Radial masters, some one was selling a Ducati 16mm radial cylinder for a good price so i bought it and then ordered a new clutch master... When they both finally arrived, i was faced with a conundrum.... they didn't match!! The clamps are different!

Hmm, what to do, i did consider just buying a matching clamp, but the colours didn't match, so yes, you guessed it, i had to order a new matching brake master!
The front calipers have been removed and cleaned as well as i could, they are in great condition for a set of 30 year calipers..

The calipers have had a full rebuild and a set of platinum ferodo pads installed.

Since buying the bike, the brake lines have concerned me, they were routed poorly and were rubbing on the forks. I have just picked up a set of 3 Venhill stainless lines with all new fittings, these hopefully will be fitted soon...
More pics soon _________________ Cheers

You say brembo carbon ceramic pads....picture shows platinum ferodo??/
Just questioning what are going in...hopefully not red plated brembo race.....as they can quickly eat your expensive hard to replace full floater cast iron brembo discs.... |
